We cant manage without JOS and therefore need a new centre half, as the alternatives are frighteningly poor. We know McClean and Larsson are not and never will be central midfielders and we need 2 new players here Fletcher is going to get fed up feeding off scraps every game and we are not getting the best out of him in that lone wolf role (we didn't have a shot in the whole 2nd half) Sessegnon IS the problem as he neither links the midfield to the attack, the threat of a goal OR tbh, offers anything other than a couple of neat little circus tricks every other game. Campbell, McFadden etc are poor quality substitutes who offer nothing. Lots of work to be done Martin. Over to you mate.
Agree with everything bar the Sess comments. He can only play where the manager puts him and he is always a threat in that role.
Agree apart from the comments on sess. We are desperate for 2 x CB, 2 x CM and a forward in jan. we need to get rid of killa, bramble, Vaughan, Campbell, And Larsson if he keeps playing like he has this season.
Keep Larsson as long as he stays on the bench and doesn't start in centre midfield, it's getting kind of embarrassing. On the plus side I'm hearing Cahill should be signing this weekend The only problem with Sess, is that he's to good for the team and always ahead of them. If Marty gets a few more Fletchers and Johnson's in then I honestly believe we will see the best of Sess and he will murder teams.
Sess IS a problem in that link up role however he is only as good as the players he's linking up with. Take Fletcher out of it cos he is fine but Larsson, Colback, Vaughan, Campbell, McClean, don't exactly support him very well either. I'd like to see what he can do when surrounded by quality players before condeming the bloke.
Well that would be nice because I've not seen him do that this season except for about a 60/70 minute spell spread over 2 or 3 games. I think too many fans are living in hope he will come good rather than him actually being good. I'd take any offer over £10m and use it to buy a proper striker that might actually score a goal, or even just shoot.
I to am with Cest on this one. Sess has rarely if ever turned up so far this season. He needs to step up his game or loose his position. On another note what has been glaringly obvious over the last three games is that we are desperately short of pace at the back. Take Rose out the equation and the rest are like carthorses. Teams with fleet footed forwards have run us ragged lately.
This is typical Sunderland though lads we won two on the bounce for the first time in the PL since 97 I think we all got giddy as **** and all thought we'd turned the corner however it is a ****ing big corner and the end is still a fair way off. We played well against City apart from the first 30 or so minutes then I thought we were more than a match for them, we then play like old women against Spurs and then decide to not even turn up against Liverpool. Roll on the next game a nice gentle stroll at Bolton then back to PL action with another easy game at home to West Ham.
As mentioned on many occassions, Sess IS a problem in that role, it isn't working and he doesn't contribute enough. But, that could be said of Larsson, Colback, McClean & Johnson and i'd rather replace Larsson, Colback and McClean before i got rid of Sess. He hasn't played with similar class players while with us so we don't know what he's capable of, he might turn out to be crap and we've seen the best of him, he might turn into a world beater, we just don't know. If we can see it isn't working then why doesn't MON do something about it? it's glaringly obvious that the formation isn't working. One thing i'm sure of is that our current midfield is piss poor and if we don't strengthen this window then we will definitley finish bottom 10.
Even when he does shoot they're usually way over the bar. He'd be mint at taking penna's in rugby union.
Sess blows so hot & cold his thermometer has orgasims hourly. So skillful but you never know what Sess is going to turn up and that's such a shame he can't bring it to the table more often. The last game where he really made an impact was Bolton away last season where he changed his boots for the second half because he was slipping over all the time. On his day he's fantastic it's just finding that day in him. He's been out of form for a while if you ask me.
