We can't afford to let this defeat affect us for the rest of the season, we just can't. Believe it or not, I'm actually not that disappointed - probably because we were never going to win the Champions League anyway. I was more hurt by the scoreline itself than the actual defeat.

I really didn't expect such a poor performance, I don't think anybody did. The players showed no passion, desire or commitment. I would've been slightly less hurt if they actually put some effort in. But no, they were just gutless and didn't seem to care.

So as far as I'm concerned, being knocked out of the Champions League could be a blessing in disguise. Firstly, it means we'll have less fixtures and injuries and secondly we won't have to play Barca this season - that's a very welcome change!

Another worrying thing is Koscielny's injury. We better hope it's nothing serious because imo he's is our most important player along with RVP. He's the only player who looked up for it today. Anyway, I doubt he'll be out for long - the guy's made of rock! I'm sure he'll be back before the Spurs game.

Also, I liked Wenger's interview after the game - he was very straightforward and admitted that we just weren't up to it today. He was very upset with the players and rightly so - you rarely see Wenger that angry.

So, I think he'll be looking for a reaction from the players against Sunderland on Saturday. Looking forward to that game - it promises to be another tough encounter. It always is at the Stadium Of Light. I'd like to see a Coquelin, Gervinho and Chamberlain start.

Lets get back on track! COYG!

Likewise .. I didn't expect us to get a result. We have papered over too many cracks this season, our true quality is far from what is perceived by some.

We can concentrate on getting results in the league to secure CL football next season, we had no chance of getting anywhere in the competition this season.

Good to see an article that isn't wallowing in the mire, last night was woeful, time to move on.

We need to win our next game against Sunderland, to regain our confidence as we've then got two crunch EPL games against Spurs and Liverpool

  5. We are as a club wallowing in the mire. The problem is not last night - its a consistent decline of our club.

So like I said, time to regroup and prepare for the Sunderland game - it's our last chance for a trophy this season and we need to instill confidence for the two crucial games against Spurs and Liverpool. We can still salvage something from this season, so I won't give up until the last kick of the season.

To be honest, we have to look to the next games as we have no choice. Im guessing that we should bounce back against Sunderland. I just hope that this bad defeat does not kill our morale off....

We can't change last night, we have to concentrate on preparing for the Sunderland game as we need to get back on track for Spurs and Liverpool as those two games are going to have a massive influence on where we finish this season.

That is true, but how will this affect our morale overall? Im guessing that they will come out all guns blazing. But one thing is clear, our next game will give us a clear indication of where our season goes. If we perform poorly against Sunderland and lose, i fear our season will fall apart.....

  11. The thing for Arsenal to do as we all know too well is to put last night behind them. For that, we need players made more of steel than many of those we currently have. It would be a triumph for them if they can get a result at Sunderland. That won't be easy for any team so I'll take a draw and look to making things right at a replay. It is time this team mans up, go out onto the pitch and get the job done. For that too, we need a manager to motivate the players.

Well it waas a close game last week and I think the difference was our reply on the Weds and the extra time. You lot have had the trip to Italy and the extra game so I am hoping that you are the ones with out that extra bit of energy.

Should be a good game again but I can not see us losing two in a row at home.

OK - so I have made little criticism on last night.

What is evident : we are like a sinking row-boat some way off shore. We are bailing water like mad. It may be that we might not reach shore before it sinks - SO WE MUST THINK ABOUT PLAN B. Do we swim, shout for help , find anything to use as a float.

Back to Arsenal - we need investment in PLAYERS. Probably a new manager, ideally a new owner.
Just dismissing the defeat and 'moving on' is NOT sufficient.

  14. It should be close yet again. You have a good team who are additionally strong at home and I've always believed MON to be an excellent manager. Care to lend him to us for a while? <laugh>

  15. I agree my friend

The team should regroup and get their act together but there are longer term solutions to be found. We needed them well before last night. Lady Luck could be with us on Saturday, indeed even after that. By focusing on our targets we may even make the Top 4 more readily after last night and if we do what I fear is that it will be seen nor so much as a triumph but a vindication of our ways. However as we know, those ways need to change. They rely on RvP and one or two players and set a lot of store by doing things on a wing and a prayer. Not enough by any measure.

Who wants to go back to 2003-05 when it was Chelsea and Arsenal fighting for the title?

    Seems along time ago now!!

Awful performance from you lot last night but was suprised at how good AC were all over the pitch. Goes to show the theory that Italian football is dead is clearly wrong. Ibra was amazing in particular.
