Bristol City captain Marvin Elliott is doing his best to adopt a sense of perspective in the face of imminent relegation to League One. Anything less than victory against Birmingham at Ashton Gate on Tuesday night will consign the Robins to demotion six seasons after they returned to the second tier But long-serving midfielder Elliott is adamant he and his team-mates must remain level-headed and focus on producing a good performance against a Blue side that has lost only once in its last nine away games. Asked if he and his team-mates are managing to keep their heads up trying circumstances, Elliott admitted: âIt can be difficult at times. âBut you just have to keep going and focus on the next game, because that always offers a chance to bounce back. âNobody has died and there is nothing to be gained by going overboard about things. We have to try and stay on an even keel.â City must win to retain their Championship status and take the fight for survival into Fridayâs game at Hull. Elliott commented: âAll the boys know the situation we are in and what is at stake. But we are playing Birmingham tomorrow and that is what we have to focus on right now. âI think you have to be professional in these situations. We are professional footballers and we have a job to do against Birmingham. Anything else will take care of itself. âPeople are saying it will be bad if we go down at home, but it will be bad whether it happens at home or away. âAll we want is a chance to stay in the division and take it to the next game. That is what we will try and do.â Elliott refuses to look back and ponder the ifs and buts of what has been a difficult season. He said: There is no point. I can look back and say âwhat if this that or the other had happenedâ in games we lost, but I could say the same about the games we have won. âThere is no point in playing that game â you just have to look forward and try and be as positive as you can. âWe have a job to do and, hopefully, we will do it well against Birmingham.â please log in to view this image
Shiny...do you agree with S O'D when he says he wants a performance tonight? I would have thought a win would be nice!
