No centre backs and no doubt we are about to lose Fer and Austin. Don't give a damn about Sandro or Hoillett. I do get the whole we can't spend the Austin money until we have it but it's time for the board to get real an be honest with us. We are in a bad place at the moment with 10 days to go before we play Charlton. .

We aren't really in that bad a place. Yes the defence is paper thin but the midfield looks good and while Austin is here at least we have the best striker in the division. Green would get in almost every other team too.
I think there are serious concerns here. A new midfield we are hoping will perform enough to cover a paper thin defence. If they have to cover the defensive frailties, they sure won't be pushing forward. So, if we're damn lucky, we'll get a hatful of 0-0 draws - when we need to be pushing to fill our basket with 3pt games. That's a flawed plan!
A bad place!!! Give over, I've known times when at this stage of pre season, we've made no signings at all, and they've all come in last minute having had no pre season at all. We're in a good place, even the defence will sort itself, just give it time.
I wish I had your confidence. Of those that are optimistic can you please send over a list of those strikers and central defenders you hear we are signing as I am completely in the dark?
Charlton 2 - QPR 1 if you ask me! I very much hope Charlton -20 QPR 72 but it's just a silly dream of mine!
I really do think Onuoha (at CB) and Perch will be good at this level. I also think our LB's, Robinson and YSY, are good at this level when back from respective injuries. In essence, we are only missing one CB from our starting line-up imo. I'm pretty sure LF and CR are very well aware that we lack that one CB, as well as cover for RB/CB and are working on this. As long as we have the CB by Charlton, we can work on getting in cover throughout August.
No-one has come forward with any names so perhaps I will throw a few into the ring. Adam Rooney (Aberdeen) Henrique (Liverpool) on loan as too expensive Nakhi Wells Bidwell (brentford) George Friend but why would he leave m/boro for us? Roger Johnson Carlos Cuellar Paul McShane
Johnson and Cuellar are past it. McShane signed for Reading. George Friend would cost a fortune. Jose Enrique wouldn't join a Championship team. Adam Rooney would be a massive gamble and probably a flop as he did zilch at Oldham and Birmingham. Nakhi Wells I'd take but would cost about £3-4 mil? Bidwell I haven't seen or heard of him. My suggestion for a centre forward would be Dwight Gayle. It's a no brainer as he won't play at Palace. As far as another centre back goes, I'd want to take either Tomas Kalas, Adrian Mariappa or Liam Moore on loan.
I do get the past it bit but the championship is not the prem and wouldn't have dreamt such players being talked about had we stayed up. Like the idea of Gayle as I do Glenn Murray or Lambert but they would want too much money, hence I didn't suggest them. Are we back to the Hooper and Crouch scenario?
