How do people see this one going and how do we line up. Might sound negative but a draw would be a canny result and I think we'll do well to come.away with anything. I.think Mon will think similar so we can forget any crazy 4-4-2 suggestions,.as much as wed all like to see it. Southampton play some good stuff and have a couple of good playmakers in Llalana and Ramirez, I also rate Puncheon and Rodriquez. If the go 4-4-2 i can see Lambert torturing Oshea :-/ and Cuellar could have problems tracking Rodriquez. Southampton have one big flaw and that is at the back so I do see us getting some joy infront of goal. Would love to see Fletcher and Wickham up.top but don't think oniell will risk losing points to one of the few teams below us. I think it'll be

    ........................mignolet........................
    Gardner.....Cuellar.....Oshea..............rose
    Johnson......Larsson....colback......McClean
    ....................Sessegnon..............................
    ...................................fletcher....................

    Prediction 2-2

Team looks about right mate think a point would be okay as well (away game and all that). Southampton have had a couple of good results lately and with this being a home game will fancy their chances against a misfiring Sunderland unfortunately. This could be their Achilles heel though and, if (a big if lately) we can start from the whistle and play for the full 90 minutes we should be good enough to get something as long as we don't underestimate them.

Would like us to be bold and go at them but like you say they'll fancy their chances and it could play right into our hands.

Llalana is injured thankfully. He's been one of their best players.
I'd agree with that line up.

Didn't know that, huge loss for them and a big bonus for us.

This weekend could have massive implications for North East football.

Sorry Parker mate I have to disagree, I think this is a game we should be looking to take maximum points from, although I admire your respect for the Saints which is correct as they are a good side but with the pressure of not being at home I think we will get the points, our defence is better than theirs ( I think!).

I do agree on your team selection barring injuries.

Southampton are crap at the back so why don't we go with 2 strikers?

Connor and Fletch (if fit) or Campbell.

We only have to score more than them but if we can get to half time less than 3-0 down (our usual type of predicament lately) we should be able to get a few goals when we do start playing.

We have to go for the win IMHO. If we were doing better, like we thought we might, then I'd have taken a point straight away. But we're in the poop and the only thing to correct that is 3 points a game.

Agreed! Every point is needed at the mo and Saints (even away) will be better than a couple of games we've got coming up...

I will be annoyed if we don't fetch 3 points back, as they are ****.

A few results doesn't mask that, I'd only have Llalana and Ramirez from their squad, although Puncheon has caught my eye last few weeks as well, maybe Lambert for the bench, I just don't rate them.

We are more than good enough to take all 3 from this, I do feel they'll stay up mind.

To be fair your basing that on **** all knowledge of our team <ok>.

As others have said Lallana is out and is a massive loss our captain and a fantastic footballer. If Ramirez is on form he'll make up for it but that is an IF at the minute as he's still finding his feet in England.

Lambert is a real handful and i've not seen him bettered legally by any centre back this season he has no pace but a quality first touch, pass, shot and is impossible to beat in the air.

Rodriguez will probably replace Lallana and will do a job but is a striker not a winger and that shows.

If you play two strikers you'll no doubt worry our defence but we are very good at possession and our midfield would certainly run yours ragged if it's 3 vs 2 at home.

Puncheon is very much the success story of our season so far, he had a massive strop a couple of seasons back and had to be loaned out but he as since apologised and looks like a man on fire.

With Lallana and being at home i'd give us a win by a two goal margin probably 3-1. However without Lallana and with the idea that if your actually team plays then it is more than enough to beat us i'd go with a draw or a 1 goal edging from us since we're at home.

Should be a good game and is worth a lot of family pride seeing as my cousins are sunderland fans so all the best for the season apart from today and at your place. <ok>

    2-0 to us.
Our defence is going to have a good day.
Sessegnon is going to score a screamer.

Was maybe a bit harsh in my wording mate, I don't think by any stretch you lot are a bad side, as said in initial comment I do feel you'll stay up.

I do, rose tinted specs or whatever, think that we are a better side, we simply have not performed to date, but the last few weeks there have been many encouraging signs, and I think this is the kinda game we are way more than capable of winning.

I'm not saying I think we will, but I stand by the original statement, I'll be disappointed if we don't.

Good luck for the season therafter though, I like having you boys back, you would fit into my Premier League if I picked the 20 'correct' teams, if you know what I mean.
