So did they---- http://www.sportingintelligence.com...-league-clubs-have-been-hit-for-seven-051101/ As I recall even little ol' QPR beat Palace 6 :0 that year when we needed to win to stay up. One (very) bad result and we're in meltdown. I say grow a pair, take it like a fan and get back to supporting the lads. Apologies if not worth own thread, mods feel free etc.
That's the spirit rtid We will get smashed again And one day we will be the ones doing the smashing (Hopefully)
I kind of see where you are coming from but the way I which it happened , as in it could have been double figures, is what is of real concern. Had their keeper made saves and we scored 3 own goals, I am sure we would all feel better in a weird sort of way. It wasn't a 6-0 that could easily have been 4-2 it was one that could easily have been 10-0. I think that's what most of us are concerned about. Can you imagine losing 9/10- 0 at home to someone in the same division? Bar 2 off the bar and one disallowed, it very, very nearly happened. The fans' comments on JFH after that would have been 'choice'. Also for the loyal ones amongst us, it makes no difference ,we'll still be there on sat week. It the ones who are clearly choosing their fixtures that we won't see for a while. Big away support from us (ie Fulham , Brentford) or big crowd at home usually brings out the worst in us, of late.
Good reply but would any of the thrashees (!) have said any different. Watching Man U 8: Gunners 2 was equally painful despite their 2 consolation goals. I also seem to recall that man U could have scored more in that game too.
It's the same division in name but they have a manager of international repute, the basis of a reasonable PL team and some good acquisitions in the transfer window just gone. The annoying this is that they are £30m in credit despite their acquisitions. I think that means their players are on big wages which means if they do not get promoted this season, they, too, may foul foul of FFP - whatever that is!
I'm a sucker for punishment (the definition of a QPR supporter); so while it p*ssed me off big time on Tuesday (sh*t result, 6 hour round trip, £35 in fares, etc, etc.), I will be back to support the lads when next I can. I have to say, the only consolation was to see some decent football from the opponents - we were beaten by a VERY good side.
Please don't misunderstand me. I was as fed up and embarrassed as any on here. All I've sought to do is put our 6 nil thrashing in the context of football in which thrashings happen from time to time, and not exclusively to us. Now that would be worrying , were it true.
The sado-masochism of being a QPR fan. We all feel it though, thankfully, not quite like those fellas.
My other thought is will there be a 6 0 home defeat dished out to the likes of BFC or FFC? No because they have balls and that's what we lacked on Tuesday more than anything. Balls. Not even a yellow card.
Agreed. I was not trying to defend the indefensible, just consider the broader context. Let's see if there is a tonking for another by the end of the season.
None of us are portraying apathy. You must be misreading something. A record home defeat that could easily have been 9-0 should not be taken lightly. That and PNE was relegation material which few of us seem to have contemplated.
6-0 nil at home is nothing to dismiss. Questions can legitimately be raised about quality of manager, players and executive given the preceding year.
I get your drift Col, but I think the thread title is more a 'get over it, move on' call. What drives apathy for me is the sheer number of games, most of them against opponents as nondescript as ourselves. I'm struggling to generate any interest in this afternoon's game, not because I don't care about QPR but because I'm all played out.
Who, me? Morning Col. Never apathetic about my beloved QPR. Just trying to paint a 'big picture' context in that a 6 nil home defeat feels like the end of the (footballing) world. It is not. It has happened to much better teams than us, notably the Gunners at Man U and will happen again but hopefully not to us.
Agreed mate. I've moved on so much that me and the lad are going to the Sunderland game (God help me! *). * There isn't a God.
PNE shipping 5 today sort of illustrates the point I was trying.to make. I would have been a LOT MORE upset had we lost Brentford.in.that way.
