Good start for Poch and the Team. Run around and scored against for 20 mins by a busy Liverpool, we then gradually looked sharp and willing. Most pleasing we looked as if we enjoyed it. Deserved goal for us, 1 each disallowed, but we dominated with and without the ball 2nd half, but as often, we couldnt put it away. I wasnt crazy about starting line up, still dont get Sterling always starting, but everyone put in and we looked more like a team than all of last season.
Was a promising display and the first enjoyable performance for months. Realistically if you put Caicedo in for Gallagher & Nkunku in for Chukwemeka it’s probably our best XI which looks very good. Fernandez stood out a mile but I thought Gallagher did well in a position I’d never put him In. Colwill & Disasi grew into the game and I thought Jackson was excellent, just missing a goal. Not far off Sterling’s best game for us either.
Enzo was immense. Gallagher was very good, Colwill and Disasi clicked in like they'd always been there, so all good! Aside from Enzo, Sterling stood out to me, his best performance for Chelsea so far by a mile. Jackson was unlucky not to bag one as well. All in all, not a bad performance, shame we couldnt nick it in the end, but its something to build on, and the inclusion of Caicedo can only improve us further.
Blimey, i was watching in the SingAir lounge at Heathrow and thought Sterling did nothing but run into defenders and lose the ball in every 1 on 1. Will have a look at the replay, I must have missed something.
We still need more control in midfield, and more penetration in the final third. Caicedo will bring the former, Nkunku will provide the latter, once he is fit again. I think we may have a decent season. Getting back into the CL has to be the aim.
Based on only 1 game, which is not a clever thing to do, we look better equiped for top 4 than Liverpool!!
Aye its early doors yet. But after last season, surely the only way is up! Potter had to be the least inspiring manager we have had since Ian Porterfield.
Agree with this. I do wonder if we might struggle to score goals again though especially whilst Nkunku isn’t fit.
Caceido Olise and Lavia to add to a squad that is already under 23 on average, we gonna need a babysitter, oh yes, we got one. Thanks Silva your services will be needed. I'm getting exited for the first time in a long while, just cant wait for the next game. Carefree again.
That, I think is why they are getting Olise. Jackson is going to need help and Enzo, for all his talent, isnt an assist man. Olise is though, 11 assists last season for Palace. If he can step up a gear, that will help, and then when Nkunku comes back, we should be gravy.
