Because we are the smallest team in the league with only 4 outfield players over 6 foot (only two of which normally start) and have no one who can put a good corner into the box?
Because McLean probably is our best aerial player, and I am probably taller than him laying down on the couch West Ham were shocklingly/surprising poor, besides their 15 minutes in the start of the second half. Green was top class though.
Aint I said this for Fookin weeks???? And the first goal we conceeded was as a result of a corner in which West Ham won a header, flicked onto far post.......GOAL!!!! Its not just scoring from corners, we cant defend corners or set pieces either...NO HEIGHT or decent headers of the ball. When we get a corner, who do you fancy to score a bullet header??? No Bastard.
weve had this debate a few times, so apologies for the repitition, but with the right delivery you dont always ned height. last season at home to leeds we whipped in a corner with pace to the front post, and chester headed it in.. a ball played in around the 5ft-6ft mark with pace is awkward for a tall defender to stoop down too and gives the advantage to the smaller players... or the alternative is to play it short and try and work a shot, or to just drill the ball in hard and low along the ground.. still, im sure the flaoting the ball in at height will come good soon
There was 1 corner today that actually caused them problems, 1 taken by Brady from the south/west corner. Think it hit the bar from a knock down/header and Green just managed to get to it, before anyone could poke it in. But yeah apart from that one they were all pretty unconvincing as usual.
Maybe we should work on our short corners....there are quite a few rountines I've seen over the years which would work for us.
