We whinge, we complain we criticise.

We also put the heads down and work. We look out for each other. We volunteer. We do it all with a smile on our face (mis-called a stiff upper lip)

Money may talk but the difference is heart and caring. THATS why this Olympics has been seen to be good. People.

I'm ****ing devastated its over now. Wasn't really looking forward to it but its blown me away the awesome coverage of the BBC and how involved they've managed to make everyone feel, even the people who haven't been there.

Hope this means channels will start covering other sports though so the amount of football on compared with zero coverage of other sports doesn't begin to bore people to tears like, lets be honest, its doing to a lot of people.

To be honest, the Olympics never have, and never will, fill me with any sort of pride.

The 'spirit' of the games - that's a pile of nonsense, really.

Who wins is (nearly completely) a numbers game - size of country x regime style x development/money = success.

In China children are trained in a manner we would flinch at seeing in a prison. And for what? A round disc?

Besides, what makes you feel pride the most about 'Team GB' (where is the usual 'NI' part? oh yes, it didn't sound as catchy so it was dropped). For Queen and country, right? What does it matter where you're from? I like being British, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't give a damn about the monarchy.

For the athletes concerned, sure - it must be a big deal. But for me, I'm glad it happens once every four years.

Ok, I've whined at the dropping of the NI to be trendy so ok.

    Otherwise

Mate with respect: I truly love that attitude. Seriously. As long as every penny you make outside of simply living goes to those who can't otherwise survive it's just posturing and words.

Bono's the perfect example of it. Oh they're all hungry in Africa. Ive given 10 million. I own almost one billion, more houses than I can live in with more rooms than I can occupy but but...I care...and I protest....

So unless you earn you're money spend only what it takes to survive and give the rest to those that can't, the argument is infinitely weakened.

    Jesus said sobering similar apparently

Hahah what are you drinking this fine Sunday evening?

And what would Jesus say about that <laugh>

We all have our opinions, that's the beauty of this country, for the moment.

PS. I'm a miserable bastard about everything, not just this!

100% agree. I thought what the **** am I going to do before I start my new job? The season is ages away. Couldn't have spent my time off other than watching the Olympics. Will stay with me forever with Istanbul.

Agreed mate, things like Chris Hoy winning gold in his final race and Mo Farah doing the double will stick with people forever.

A week without **** all in between our games is going to feel like ages away as we've been spoiled with so much awesome sport every day over the last 2 weeks.
