Jack Marriott scores a hat-trick for the U18s against Cardiff at Playford Road. This kid is a great prospect for the future and will break into the first team within the next couple of seasons if he carries on like he is doing! There are a few gems starting to emerge under the guidance of Russell Osman and Bryan Klug. Jack Marriott has so far scored 4 hat-tricks which suggests that he has got what it takes to become a quality striker. Not everything is doom and gloom http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/22702/marriott-nets-hat-trick-as-u18s-beat-cardiff
Hopefully they won't be sold off like the Trotters, Rhodes and Garvans!! We may not be in a much better position but if we would've showed faith with some of these youngsters the past few seasons I'm sure there would be less disillusion amongst fans and we probably wouldn't be any worse off!! I should probably let it go (definitely should) but it still makes me mad to think we could've had a strikeforce of Wickham and Rhodes and a midfield 3 of Garvan, Hyam and Trotter!!! Hope this Marriott does make it, sounds like he's been scoring a few, although haven't heard much hype about him tbh. Would love to see some of the youngster given a go toward the end of the season if we are safe, particularly keen to see Lawrence!!
There a good few in the youth system ptc that will make the grade over the next few years and now that we have Klug back in the role of youth development our youth system is once again in safe hands.
This Marriott lad is being as prolific as a certain Jordan Rhodes was during his spell here as a youngster. Certainly promising times ahead but I doubt we'll see that much of him for another year or two as I don't think MM will consider throwing him into the squad unless we are desperate as he still needs a couple of years to mature. I don't think any of us want to see another Bowditch situation, or maybe Carson in more recent times...
