Such is the weirdness of the championship, we have a chance of being fourth by tuesday night. Birmingham have a tough trip to Pompey, Boro go to west ham and where as ours is tough also, at least we are at home.
Thank **** you didn't write it's a must win match. ****in hate that saying. I hope, with all this unwanted pressure our seemingly desperate fans are putting on the team to win every match, that you aren't depressed come full time on tuesday night.
A game against Pompey at the moment would only ever be described as tough by the Manager of a football club. Everyone else looks on it as a golden opportunity to pick up 3 points.
No such thing as a sure thing in this league ... As I have found out a few times with my footy bets :-(
My money is on a draw vs Southampton. As for Pompey, they'll probably get turned over by the Blues. I think Boro could get a win at West Ham though, right now at least.
Probably gonna be 3 points for Birmingham. Boro are in miserable form and West Ham aren't firing on all cylinders so that's a tough one to call. Southampton will come and play football which will suit us, should be a good game in store.
I can't see Southampton just coming and outclassing us. I think we'll be just as good as them on the day, but like with the West Ham game we'll need luck to go our way because if the ball falls nicely for them in our box they will score. We need to make sure we are as clinical as they will be.
Am hoping home advantage will give us the edge with them travelling a fair distance up here. I've had a sneaky feeling we might win this game, we will be in a great position if we do.
Hope you're right! It's definitely possible but we're going to have to be sharp in front of goal because you can bet they will be!
I don't know, and it's not as easy to check as I thought it would be. How often have we played the league leaders at home? (once a season is not necessarily the answer) On a weird thing with the fixtures though, in March 2008 we played Cardiff away, Southampton at home, and Leicester away in the space of 4 games.
As all teams start the season on zero points and are positioned in the league alphabetically the first match could be against the league leaders! Not the case here though.
I was more working on the basis that if two teams go charging off at the top of the table you could play the one in second at home early in the season, and then before you play the other one they've swapped places so you never play the top team that season, then the next the same could happen but you play the top one first, and then they swap and you play the top side again. I'm going to go 7 years ago and Luton.
And you would be correct. Hope a similar result eventuates for Hull City against the Saints( 3-0) although I am advised it will be a score draw.
