Haha! Who's thread will be merged 6D? Ya, some are already saying oh it doesn't affect us but I think it does, I think it shows why we have been so tight on the money.

At the same time, we should have been smarter with the money. Spent 15 mil on Joe Allen while it is a good acquistion, would have prefered a striker with that.

    That's not FSG, that's Henry's personal business.

Saying that it is a business that will fail in hard times. he makes money out of running businesses right and getting them streamline. Everyone is having to do that to survive now. Be a few decades until that business model works again. The fact that he is moving out of it, shows he is not soft.

Hello Mr. know half the facts, but going to knee jerk like a tart anyway.

Liverpool just need to be able to spend their own money, and we can well have enough money to buy players. We don't need, nor have we ever had money from FSG. Their money went into paying our debt. Henry knows this is long term, and needs to rebuild for a couple of years to start making money from us. No point raping the Goose that lays the golden egg, you need to give it a nice bed and some food.

This short sighted, reactionary rubbish is why you are **** at Fantasy football.

  7. This, FSG are made up by a lot of rich guys, not just Henry and Werner <doh>

Not that I expect them to cough up, never wanted then to, just wanted us to be debt free. Don't mind us acquiring debt for stadium improvements either <ok>

FSG was founded in 2001 as New England Sports Ventures when John W. Henry joined forces with Tom Werner, Les Otten, The New York Times Company and other investors to successfully bid for the Red Sox. NESV formally announced its name change to Fenway Sports Group in March 2011.

It was unclear whether Friday’s news or the trading firm’s dismal performance will impact Henry’s ownership stake in the Fenway Sports Group.

That's an interesting line .... Could Werner and co. push John W. out of the picture altogether?

short sighted? <laugh> Ok. I agree with making our own profit, I was more or less making the assumption that we won't have the big money to bring in a quality striker in January in my opinion and this more or less shows it, Henry and Co won't dip into their own pockets as they are playing it safe in their own houses.

Thing is there should be money with all the wages we saved though so we shall see. Still think the buying of Yesil and bringing Morgan through is so that we only get the one striker and then have those come in later years. You know, keeping the wage bill down and all that.

The article clearly states that his company only has $100M in ASSETS. No word on JWH's personal wealth, so no word on his funds to play with FSG. it's an outdated business model, and he's closing it down before it personally costs him.

Which is another reason it was a bit weird we didn't have the money in the summer when we were getting Chevy on board, loaning and selling, etc. Also Joe Allen for me was not a necessity and thought maybe we could have used that 15 mil on him towards the striker? Not sure why we left out most important position so late and it cost us.

Like Hash said, wondering if FSG are trying to slide Henry out? Trying to read between the lines in the column and all that.
