Truth is, we just aren't clinical enough to stage any real progress! How many times have we blamed the ref, the linesmen the grass for being too long? It's time to get real and find a prolific scorer who knows how to put the ****in ball away! Carroll isn't th eman to lead the line, Borinin may be too young and Suarez is just not a 20+ a year striker - Unless we take the pressure off of him. Time we stopped blaming anyone and took the task in house.

Rodgers needs time no doubt about it, but he needs to accept we have a goal scoring problem and address it. He needs at least 3 years to show any real signs of taking us forward. If we knee jerk and get rid after 6 months, we have to bring in a new manager who will have a different 'philosophy' and therefore need to bring his own players in to implement it. This would put us back even further whilst we are already so far behind the 'Big' teams!

Come on Brendan, bring us a decent striker in and lets get scoring for fun!

Excellent thread. Rumour has it that FSG have made £25-£30 million available for one or two players on Brendan Rodgers request. I hope its true.

Every one blames the ref. United fans will blame the ref for not giving enough stoppage time. ;)

We lack composure in the final third. We rush things and end up making a mess of it.

What does the title of this thread, and indeed the second sentence of the top post, say? Have you actually read any of it?

I honestly don't get how suarez scored so many for ajax, we need to get rush or maybe even fowler in as some form of shooting coach, I also feel that Suarez out wide right, Borini left and Carroll down the middle would be a better combination than downing on the right and suarez through the middle. I honestly feel sorry for andy, he CAN play the ball with his feet and is unstoppable when confident, sort of like Fellaini (sp?) was for everton against united

Exactly. Carrol actually is, in my humble opinion, the man to lead our line. Control, strength, and height. Let Suarez beat players on the line, cut in, and drop it to the penalty spot for carrol, gerrard, allen, or borini to bury.

Yeah i suppose but its not like the nets are smaller here, suarez gets plenty of chances, just seems to miss it completely, after scoring over 50 goals in a season for club & country a couple of years ago

But making excuses is so easily and Liverpool haven't even covered some of the better ones yet, let alone got to the stage of Wenger or Sir Alex of inventing new ones!

Very good thread though. Interested in BR's approach to managing Liverpool, very much a championship upbringing exhibited in his neat and tidy transfer acquisitions in my opinion, as contrasted against Dalglish's "I've got money" gung-ho approach. I don't think you really need a Mag telling you your problems, and I think I agree with most of you who've already suggested sticking Suarez to the right side and bringing in a natural goalscorer. As much as you may absolutely detest the thought, one year contract for Owen might not be such a bad idea if you're in a tight financial spot. If you've got money to spend however, it could be a very interesting last few days of the window indeed!

BR is a good manager who makes players think, so intelligent footballers will be the ones coming through those doors whatever happens, so you can't really go wrong!

Suarez needs the responsibility lifting, and I think the way we do this is, as alot of us have said for a while, is to put him on the wing, let a goal scorer take the lead and I reckon Suarez will coe good. I don't think (And I am open to being proven wrong) he hsa had to shoulder the burden of hitting the target constantly which is probably the reason he isn't scoring that many for us.

I don't think we need to sign a 'marquee' player many clubs have found little gems who have gone on to score goals a plenty so maybe we should look in the bargain basement. Let the haters hate us, they would regardless of whether we spend big or large amounts of cash.

I think the key word is 'composure'. Not only up front, but all over the pitch.

As mentioned above, we need more intelligent players especially in the midfield and attacking positions. I hope we do get a player like Isco (from Malaga) or maybe Sahin becomes available after a recent hiccup in his move to Arsenal, simply because we need players who are comfortable on the ball. I was watching Kagawa last night and he oozed class - rarely looked troubled even in tight spaces and hardly lost the ball.

Then we need to address the striker option - I would love to see Carroll given the opportunity purely because I want to see Suarez on the right hand side. I'm trying to think of players in the market we could go for - Roberto Soldado or is that too ambitious?

Hearing rumours that we are going to bid for Adam Johnson as well.
