    looked like Fielding was decent on the video. Was impressed by the commitment of No 24 - who is he? And also No 21 (was that Marlon Pack?) showed some good running and deft passes. Joe Bryan played well. But generally, the team seemed to play with purpose and some good inter-linking play.

    Building momentum

    For the first time since 2008/9 I am genuinely looking forward to the new season with renewed optimism. I don't even think that defeat on the opening day is a big deal, providing we're not slaughtered of course !

    The only downside is the timing of the redevelopment of AG

    I think the time away was important to "bond" - with 5-6 new players it's important that they gel quickly.

    While I don't condone fighting on the pitch - the "mass brawl" shows that they have a bit of team spirit as they stick-up for each other.

    Encouraging signs
