a lot of people on b and a are calling for a new manager. not sure i agree with this,we always knew league 1 would be difficult, and in their own way shrews are attempting to make it ruddy awkward. there will be time for inquests, but not now, the manager and squad must be allowed with full backing to achieve what they set out to do in august, to retain their league status. orient i remind you have a gd of 0 , and where in a much improved position than town. i suspect towns form may take further knocks at mkd and crewe, we shall see. what i do know is GT is here to do the job outlined above. i wish him well in this and i hope shrews supporters get behind him and the squad. floreat salopia! floreat graham turner!
Not going to shout for a new manager unless we go down. Lackadaisical performances without any trace of passion like yesterday really make me wonder what Turner does to motivate the team, though. Even more baffling was the decision not to bring on McGinn - perfectly understandable not starting him, but bringing him on for Richards or Summerfield or D. Mac (before he went off) would have given us much more of a boost than doing sweet FA.
In his own words, Turner under-estimated League 1. How So? He has relatively recent experience of the same league and he has made the same mistakes as at Hereford but with significantly greater resources. Turner out.
How can you motivate a team that has been changed so many times with outsiders coming and going?....my biggest criticism with GT(fully understanding that he has virtually no budget) is the fact the loanees he is getting in are no better than what we have here now!!....plus he has not paid much attention of building up a youth policy, and im still a little baffled by his team tactics, we really do need to batten down the hatches now and stop conceding goals.
agree this is not the time to change Managers, and if we do the new guy ainât going to get any finance either!!..this mess is not all down to GT..but i now truly believe upstairs considers us to be just a league two side.
Graham turner was, is, and continues to be the finest Shrewsbury Town manager of all time. He has forgotten more about football than any of us will ever know. Yes, he has made mistakes this year but that happens to best of them (even Ferguson and Mourinho). I for one would be desperately sad to see him step down as manager and, thinking of some of the managers we have had since his first spell, I would say only Chic Bates and Fred Davies would be fit to lick Turner 's boots. Those calling for Turner's head should be careful what they wish for because it might come true!
Last season I remember Sharps commenting on how good a manager GT was, how he talked calmly to each player, how he explained how things were done well/badly and how to make things better. Has GT changed his management style from last season? I doubt it, what I do think is that we have obviously missed out on key targets in the summer/ January windows and maybe some of the players brought in have not worked out as well as they could have. I would say GT needs to be here until the last match of this season at the least, bit let's hope that things get sorted out and obviously we are planning for staying in League 1 for next season too.
