Makes our return on wages even more remarkable. Comapre our position and the Swans against QPR for instance. In business, cost of sales is always an important consideration and this shows our "cost of sale" in a particularly good light.
yes, must be based on the 11/12 season. i'd have thought we would have paid more than reading last season.
The disparity between the top and the bottom in all the leagues is just crazy! Its small wonder its the same old names on trophies all over the world. Bah!
Thanks for this Superman. Other interesting points from the chart - (1) Inverness pay their first team players, on average £50k a year!! (2) The lowest paid team in the Bundesliga pays just over half our average, the lowest in Serie A and La Liga pay less than a third of our average - gives an idea of our financial muscle now, when up against comparable level teams in other leagues. (3) We pay on average about £20k per week to our first team. Not sure how many players that counts as, but that makes me think we pay significantly better than I thought! For that average, our highest earners (e.g. Holt) must have been on c.£30k pw in the 2011-12 season (which this is based on). I wonder if this figure includes goal bonuses and the like, rather than just base salary?
Really interesting Supers. Despite being the lowest paid team in the Premier League, it's still remarkable to think that little ol' Norwich are the 175th biggest payers in world sport!
yes, apologies, it does seem the figures are for the previous season. i guess it would include bonuses because the figure quoted for city would be out by a considerable margin otherwise. our top earner (basic) last season was only being paid £25k (roughly) by us but i'd imagine with bonuses included the figures go up a large amount
it pisses me off reading those stats: Average wage when playing for Norwich is £1million per year, it might be low compared to other PL teams but feck me if every PL player gave a weeks wage to the next Sport Relief, then they'd be able to buy a few mosquito nets!
To add to Super's stat, we also paid the least in transfer fees per point earned: please log in to view this image
guess some do give a lot to charity and for some charity starts at home; Steven Gerard gave his old carpet to his dad , what a nice gesture
love that table DH - i'm shocked by how much man u, chelsea and man city spent on transfer fees if this is accurate! it seems too high - chelsea £370m? either way, it would be better to show net transfer spending
I suspect it isn't summer spending, but more the total transfer fees for the 25 man squad. So for Chelsea that's about £15mil per player.
Just read something on the Celtic board that was interesting. The average bonus they paid players for winning the SPL was £12k, apparently Whittaker got £300k for helping us avoid relegation. You can see why Hooper wants to come to England!
Another stat, Chelsea spent more money on players out on loan this season, than Wigan did on their entire squad - for the last 6 seasons!
