Good News is Mama is back on the mend, I'm chuffed for him and wish him well!

    BAD NEWS!

"I have just talked to the club and they have offered me another year contrcat"???????????????? WTF?

"Without the club helping me, I think I would stop. Yes, probably I would retire".

"I am passing the ball normally (Dont tell TP), but not kicking it yet" ??????????????????????????????????? Great!

26 Goals in 185 appearances and 6 goals in 56 prem games!

This is for me the biggest issue, apart from TP stealing a living as a manager he is intent on adding more ageing, injury prone low quality players to the squad! Give me strength! Mama was never good enough to be in the prem in the first place and hi quote in relation to retireing if Stoke hadn't offered him a contract reflects the fact that he knows nobody else whould sign him.

    Thoughts?

As long as "without the club helping me" means they are teaching him to use the lawn mower it's ok.

what a ****ing joke!!!, yes he has been a good servant to the club, but he is nowhere near enough for the prem. If people werent mad on Owen signing (a proven goalscorer with injury problems) then god knows what they think about Mama being given another contract............I really do ****ing give up!!!!!

I think mama has done a good job for us in the past but as for another yrs contract mmm
I suppose we dont what the contract is yet cuz if its a pay as u play then its ok but anything else i think it really is throwin money down the drain..
Mama aint good enuff for the prem ... the man himself knows that so why do we persist on giving contracts to players that simply should not be fitting our bill nowadays ???
These decisions stop firmly at the managers door !!

I read this in the Sentinel tonight and said to myself that I was justified in not renewing my season ticket for next year. Coates is just as big a mug as he must be prepared to bank roll him for another 12 months of potentially sitting it out injured!

The actions of resigning this player, Mama Sidibe, appear to demonstrate a very caring and noble club policy, something that's rather lacking in todays businesses.
It's also interesting to see that while Pulis is doing this Newcastle are signing a young (22 year old) midfield player from Riems to add to their already excellent midfield. Don't these sorts of actions demonstate the different approaches and perhaps thinking of Management teams within the Premier League.
As one of many frustrated supporters I still hold out for some radical actions at our club so that we can hopefully progress and not become relegation fodder.

I agree mate, im really losing interest in TP and his approach to football. A lot of His decisions are ridiculous, what other team in the prem would have Mama in their squad?. Im with Waddo, I wont be getting a season ticket this year either.

I dont think Mama has offered us anything since we have been in the prem and 6 goasl in 56 games (of which he played most of the game) is proof to that effect. I can remember 1 lucky goal (Villa at home in our 1st season) which came of the back of his shoulder and the game against Arsenal in the cup when we won 3-1, that fantastic run down the right with a brilliant chip cross fro Fuller to head in (it was probably a shot) - thats about it.

The guy has played about 90 minutes in the last 3 seasons and is 32 years of age - he was never blessed with skill when we were in the championship prior to his horrific injury record! For me even a pay as you play contract is fruitless (look at the Woody situation and he had far more value to our squad than Mama has - Woody is probably better upfront aswell) becasue it take the opportunity away from other players (hopefully young budding talent). We can only support so many players and considering we are alledgedly trying to lower the wage bill?

I cant understand that as our premier league stats get worse and worse we keep rewarding players who are either one of the reasons for the poor performaces or play no role in our team? Beyond me and I think mahoney has hit the nail on the head with his/her comments!

It's not all lost yet, there's a chance he might not be in the 25 man squad. . . . Hopefully chucking him in for a few cup games against league 1/2 sides is the extend of the clubs kindness to him. I'm all for looking after him, and not dumping him into retirement, but where will it end? It would make sense to pay him as a training partner or something, he'd still gets payed and get to play a bit.

The problem is though whilst he is named in the 25 man squad he is taking the place of a fresh young prospect coming through the ranks. Pulis needs to take his head from up his ass and get a reality check. We are defo relegation candidates for next season and Mama as nice as he may be ain't no saviour!

    Breaking NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Sentinel reports that TP is defending his position to offer Sidibe a new 1year deal. Pulis says the club has a "responsibility" to look after Sidibe.

"Mama's contribution over the last 5 years shouldn't be forgotten and i think we have a reputation for not forgetting such people" Errrr Yep TP we know, he hasn't played for half that period, was that when he contributed?

He also compares the situation to Delaps leg break 6 years ago! Errr No, Delap was 28 (Sidibe is 32/33) and he was a player that had a future with the club big difference!

Its rumoured that Sidibe will be on a nominal salary (whatever that means in football speak) and may not even play again for the club, but regardless - his nominal salary, rehibilitation costs, ongoing medical care and insurance fees, would probably pay for 2 new young talents that we could nuture!

This piece for me smacks of desperation by TP and I am assuming that the the backlash is not just us dozen on here?

Smithers, are we the dirty dozen then? TP can ride in and save the day on one of the players he's just given a new contract to!!
