Try as hard as I might to keep my thoughts to myself I am having a difficult time accepting that we are as poor as today's blowout proves. Using all the positives available including that Hull were by far and away the better team and that others lost a little ground, but not much, does not hide the fact that we are struggling to compete, yet alone survive, in the Championship. Based on what is currently happening combined with the reality of what we have and what we would like isn't doing much for my confidence level going in to the summer break. There are times when I want to scream from the rooftops that I would like Bristol City to get something right for once and yet my pleas, combined with a large majority of others, just doesn't appear to register on the radar of those who make the decisions. My patience with our leader is fast disappearing in to the abyss that has been created by poor decisions and general apathy when it comes to making the right moves to make us a contender which by muted statements is the intention. Corporate waffle and mission statements such as the 5 pillars nonsense is just a way of hiding behind the smoke and mirrors that are obviously the order of the day with our club. Nothing I have seen since the heady days of the play-off final against our opponents today have shown me that anything other than what we see on a daily basis is going to pop up suddenly to change our fortunes. A succession of mediocre managers combined with poor player decisions have led us to this point and I firmly believe that nothing will change during the summer break because, despite many opportunities for Steve Lansdown to step up to the plate, it is not the way he does business. My problem doesn't lie with what is happening to Ashton Gate Stadium but rather with the seemingly apathetic way we approach the magic rebuild, which has been coming by my count for about 6 years, and still haven't quite worked out the formula yet. The summer dreaming season will soon be upon us and just in case nobody has noticed we are still not safe yet and my expectations are not being boosted by our previous dealings. Frankly I am fed up with the corporate nonsense and I don't see enough coming down the pipe that will change my mind and due to my extreme age I would like to see better before my time expires and I don't think that is too much to ask - is it?
Dont think the corporate bit is going to change- That's the direction of travel for most clubs and businesses today-Think we have to accept what we are, a club that is big but not huge and one that does ok somewhere between championship and League 1-
now lets take the positives from the game .... ummmmmmmmmmmm uuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmm uuuuuuuuummm um uuuuuuuummmmmmm !
Bournemouth, Villa and Watford all lost 4:0 today Hull are a very good team with some incredibly good players for this level. We are 6 points clear of a ****e side below All is not lost ffs
Mike, HUGE over reaction my friend. This was our "free" game and with a bit of better luck, JK would have bagged another 2 today and who knows what would have happened. Tuesday 's game is the MASSIVE one and Rotherham are bang in form so I don't think we over exerted ourselves at 3-0 down somehow...
I think EVERYONE knows the team is not good enough including LJ. We just need to survive this season and then hopefully move on with some decent purchases next season.. I'm not panicking, but be nice to get a result on Tuesday though!!
'I think EVERYONE knows the team is not good enough including LJ'. I think EVERYONE in the WORLD knows that LJ is not good enough. Head Coach Junior Bullshitter Ashton Will it end in tears ?
I think he is good enough and I'm even more convinced of that now he's had a couple of months in charge. But then again I don't have knee jerk reactions to results like some people
I think I see Invers point! When we win (Bolton game aside) it's usually by a single goal, yet when we lose to a lot of teams in this division we are losing heavily, that is why we are miles apart, as we all too often cannot get near competing with a lot of sides in this division, and not all of them are at the top of the table.
Thanks supcon because when I see inconsistent results, especially a 10 goal spread over our last 2 matches, then I see a team that is not ready for the challenge. Until such time as we develop a firm plan to consolidate and progress then we will constantly stay in this mire or an even lower level of football, and I for one don't want to see us there anymore. When I get on my bike with something on my mind many people take is as a criticism of the club, and more particularly on those who run it, and they would be correct but surely something has to change if we truly think we have the right to be in a better place. Ah well the king who never was is coming to town next week, so be warnocked that he has done at great job with his new club. Peace be with you all.
The form table indicates that since LJ's arrival our form is in the play off group. Question.. would you have settled for that after the Preston defeat. Enough said. Don't worry Bolton , Charlton and MK are nailed on certs
Would you put your house on us staying up ? I wouldn't. We will be lucky to get two points against Rotherham and the Wendy's.
We don't have a good enough team (especially with Smith out) to bother any of the top 8 bar Middlesbrough and Ipswich (hence the frequency of 4:0s we've been getting) . However from the top 9 and downwards we can be realistically challenging for results. Its the games against the likes of Brentford and Blackburn that will decide this not the games against the top.
any one "realistically" thinking we should not have lost was pushing it! a point would have been a M A S S I V E bonus
I wouldn't put my house on Birmingham or Preston staying up either. But a City fans house is safer than a Bolton Charlton Or Mk' fans house
