From having a quick look at the 2 squads (last years and this years, so far) there appears to have been quite a sizeable shift in the players age. Last season we had 10 players over 30, this year 3! From a very quick Wicki based calculation our average sqaud age was well over 26 and a half years, this year a touch over 24 (this is based on the wiki page that did include some of the youth frings type players). Sure the media will take this into account before labeling the team again
This potential signing certainly isn't a big loss for us:- QPR suffer set-back as striker target closes in on Premier League switch 11:38 21 July 2015 Pete Evans please log in to view this image Lee Williamson of Blackburn Rovers battles with Rickie Lambert of Liverpool (Photo by Jan Kruger/Getty Images) West Brom are expected to step up their interest in Liverpool’s Rickie Lambert in the next 24 hours, a move which will all but end QPR’s hopes of signing the England forward. The Baggies are keen to bring the striker to The Hawthorns and talks are set to take place between all parties. A deal could be wrapped up by the end of the week. Bournemouth, Norwich, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough have also been linked with Lambert, who scored just three times in 36 appearances having moved from Southampton last summer. At one stage Rangers were the bookies favourites to land Lambert as they prepare for life in the Championship and they could suffer a double blow with Tony Pulis still keen on adding winger Matt Phillips to his squad. Arsenal’s Serge Gnabry is also said to be on the Welshman’s radar as he looks for regular first-team football. Meanwhile QPR are set to lose goalkeeper Alex McCarthy to Crystal Palace this week but they have managed to keep hold of Charlie Austin with a Premier League move for the former Burnley striker yet to materialise.
