Yesterday was a must win game for me. A drew was not good enough. We are now 20th and 2 points from bottom and 5 points away from 17th. Meaning we are falling away from the mid table teams which now puts us in a relegation battle. If we didnt beat top of the table Oxford the other week we would be rock bottom now.

After the cup replay at York we got Burton away who have a great home record. Then we got Cheltenham away on a Tuesday evening who are 17th - another must win game for me.

    Im not feeling very confident!

    Your thoughts?

At least we're playing better than we were a month ago. Yes, I am a little worried about our position but what we need to do is play well for a full 90 minutes, as in the last 2 games, we've only played well in the 2nd half. The main problem is that while we have a hard working team, we don't have a standout player in attack who can dominate defences. Harrold only does so occasionally.

harrold i think is best used as a super sub. like what he did at torquay last game of last season and york in the cup, he came on and scored straight away. beardsley works hard and although he dont score much i do rate him. we need a fit brunt to play along side him. or someone with pace.

What's particularly worrying is that none of the teams at the bottom is adrift.
No team has fallen away with very few points; and no team has a markedly
worse GD. As they say, it could go the wire.

Brunt IMO is not good enough really. We need an out and out goal scorer. Santos got some great balls in the box yesterday and providing he can keep this up, he will be good enough to feed a good goal scorer

I went to the game yesterday - my first for quite some time. At half time I stood chatting to a mate saying "I don't know why I bothered". It was bad - second best all over the pitch! However it looked like JW made 11 subs at half time - a completely different game - it looked like we wanted it more, didn't get bullied off the ball so much and actually put the ball on the deck and played to our strengths. Tale AS for example - first half = nothing .... second half = half a dozen good runs down the wing and had their fullback tied up in knots. This was because we played with an attacking intent, on the deck and took the game to them. Why oh why do we always go out with a negative attitude to defend defend defend, when, as we did in the second half, we attacked and had enough chances to win the game (although I would say a draw was a fair result!)
Did it inspire me to come back more regularly? If I went on the first halfs display then definitely NOT! But I am somewhat buoyed up by the second half display and so the Wombles game has a chance, and defo for the Pompey game. One last note about two players - MH was up against two monster defenders and I thought he did really well, and won enough of his battles and headers, being constantly pulled pushed and fouled and as per usual getting nothing from the ref. And EH who came on as a sub;- I know a lot has been said about him recently but I must say he at least gave it a go for the 10 or so minutes he was on the pitch and looked like he actually wanted to play and get stuck in. UTG!

i hear good displays away from home but then see bad displays at home. or 45 mins bad then the next 45 mins great. the life of a football fan following a lower league club!

now you can see why 1 minute im negative and the next positive! we can all see that we aint far off. we just need someone to start banging in the goals to release pressure at the back. and it will also breed confidence too!

Exactly, we've only played well for 45 mins against York and Bury. As they say, you won't win games most of the time if you don't play well for the full 90.
