I must admit i was worried that our bubble would burst and that we could possibly become an average Championship side once more. But with points in the bank and our three loanees now settling in and getting match fit we are only going to improve. And if we can get the likes of hoillet , AJ, phillips and Neds back fit again we really are going to be pretty formidable. Also what is encouraging for me is that if we are still top by Jan we are going to be able to attract quality players and build for next season. Something we did not do in 2010/11.
If Steve McClaren does go to Derby, then I think we might have a nervous two weeks whilst trying to assess the damage in losing such a highly regarded coach. Has he instilled enough in them since arriving in July that the squad is now finally playing passing possession football and therefore that will continue in his absence, or will we miss his day to day involvement on the training pitch and results deteriorate in the coming weeks? I hope it is a case that he might be gone but his methods not forgotten!!!
Harry & Joe are more than experienced enough to distill the key elements SMC brought to the club and keep this style of football going in the same direction. I am sure the vast majority of players enjoy playing this way, and will want to continue playing this way.
I feel that McClaren deserves a lot of praise for his influence on the team. With the players clearly enjoying themselves now and the positive results, I do not think his leaving will be too negative.
Agreed with all the above .................................. just hope we don't lose momentum. A win this week will really put some wind in our sails.
