Charlton seem bitter to me, probably can't stand the fact Pardew's managing in the PL.

Well Pardew isn't involved in the money side of transfers. He says who he wants and Ashley buys League 1 goalkeepers. Thats the way the club works

I thought they were reporting us for a derisory bid? I reckon they're jumping on the Sochaux bandwagon and claiming this because they can.

Yep. The club are working their ticket in the hope they get a transfer embargo slapped upon them. How convenient for Fat Boy.

Only we could illegally approach a player we don't even need.

Obviously Ashley is on a one man mission to piss off everyone in the world of football and the sports retail industry. <doh>

I'm a massive critic of this regime but I think this is part and parcel of football. If you can't beat them, join them. Every club is at this and has been for a long time. Think back to Ferguson turning up at Ruud Van Nistelrooys door, Redknapp on a weekly basis. This is football and view will be the small fine they get is worth it to clinch a multi million pound deal. It is wrong and underhand but this is just the way it is.

    This ^^^^

But it funny how the Charlton manager is now talking that we made them an offer which they knocked back!!

CHARLTON manager Chris Powell says the ball is in Newcastle’s court if they want to follow up their interest in keeper Rob Elliot.

The Addicks last week rejected a £100,000 offer from former boss Alan Pardew to secure Elliot’s services and have also lodged a complaint with the Premier League after Pards went public on the bid.

Elliot, who is out of contract next summer, remains at The Valley but with transfer deadline fast approaching, it remains to be seen if the Geordies will try again to get their man.

Powell said: “Newcastle made one bid, it has been rejected and we haven’t heard anything from them since.

“Only things will develop if they do come back.

“They are the only club that has picked up the phone and made an official enquiry and bid.

“Nothing has developed there and that is how it is with the Rob Elliot situation.

“If they make a bid we are happy with and they are happy to pay then ultimately that is what it is about.”

He added: “It has got to be that both parties are happy, then they can speak to the player and see if he agrees his contract, which I’m sure going from League One to the Premier League wouldn’t be a problem.

“But everyone has got to be happy in any deal.

“We spoke with Rob about it last week before Scunthorpe but we haven’t since.”
