I guess like most others on here I´m hoping this will be our year, But we´ve yet to see If Adams can be The one to help bring us that cheer Just as he´s told his squad to date He too should start with a clean slate, Whether we agree With D. McNally Or not, in his hands lies our fate He wasn´t my choice at the time To lead us on this awkward climb, But now that it´s done We should stand as one Behind him, and hope that things rhyme The signings so far both seem good Considering just where we stood, At the end of play Back there in mid May All washed away in the flood Grabban and Lafferty too Won´t find this level at all new, Which shouldn´t be poor For what is in store As they´ll know what we have to do I´m glad too to see Surman back He´s good in a diamond attack, Which served us real well Under one Paul L But that´s off on another tack I thought at the time that Joe Royle As guru, would be a good foil, But maybe the broth Would be spoilt if both Of them, Robson and Holt all toil So whether or not we still see An advisor, does seem to me, A matter of doubt As they go about Their task with boundless energy Snodgrass has gone out the door And I dare say there´ll be some more, But that´s just the cost When status is lost Don´t be surprised if three or four.... ...of those who we´d prefer to stay Are tempted to move on their way, Money, in the end Is hard to defend Against, if some are willing to pay So far pre-season hasn´t shown Us much to confirm that we´ve grown, But two games this week Ought to help us peak As we embark on the unknown I hope patience amongst our flock If we don´t steam out of the blocks, Will be to the fore To help a bit more Because I´ve no doubt there´ll be shocks. Well Super, I take it from that, that you agree, patience is going to be an important word again this year, but I fear after last year it might be a little bit thin on the ground in some places, and the first signs of faltering may not go down that well - we´ll see. Although I actually thought that there might have been more grumbling already about the lack of incoming activity than there seems to have been, so that at least is quite encouraging.
Very good OP RBF and I fear that if we get off to a poor start, then patience with some fans may be in very short supply. I agree that for some the lack of new arrivals is a tad disappointing, but IMO it is adequately compensated by the fact that our squad in general seem happy to stay put for the time being. We'll just have to wait and see how many others leave over the next 5 weeks or so, but I'm hopeful that the price we're asking for Redmond etc will put some clubs off taking the risk.
Hi skald bor, everything comes to him who waits, I've been patient for the past 66 years, waiting for us to lift the FA Cup. Guess another year won't come amiss !!! Reserving judgment on how we make out against Wolves; preseason games are just team workouts, nothing to take serious. Regards to the Prince of Denmark.
Evening NORKIE, As regards the FA Cup, I fear we may have to go on waiting , as regards promotion this year, who knows - the Championship is always notoriously difficult to predict, and with the teams down there this year, it´s not going to be any easier to get out of. Fingers crossed.
Excellent OP RBF, but I fear it will fall on deaf ears with those who don't see the bigger picture. As Shankly so rightly said, "it's a marathon, not a sprint". Patience is not something that certain fans will ever achieve.
Yes I dare say it might Rick, but the fact remains The more of it that we can show, To a young coaching team still finding their feet The better our results may go.
