Wayne Routledge

Discussion in 'Queens Park Rangers' started by Heavy Metal Toon, Apr 26, 2011.

  1. Would you guys be happy to have this lad from us? He's just not good enough for our team, but i'm glad to see he's hitting his true form at your side.

But i just want to say, as much as i love the speedy little ****, his deliveries and passing aren't really effective in the Premier League.

He can run very well and worry defenders, but his deliveries are easily dealt with by PL defenses. Does this no worry you a bit?

He's a class player, just not at premier league level. However, i love the lad, so i'm glad he's playing well with you <ok>

Others can hold me to this if they want to, but I'm going to be a grumpy bugger and put my neck on the line: Wayne Routledge is not good enough for the Premier League.

99 appearances for 6 different clubs and just one goal.

He's great in the Championship, mainly due to his pace, and he will help any club gain promotion, but he's just not PL material.

As I've said on previous threads. To me, Routledge falls into the Darren Huckerby category. too good for the second tier, but not good enough for the top. I stand to be proved wrong of course, & I hope he does.

Whatever the future, he's been a fantastic loan.

Hes worth a punt I think. He may or may not make the step up but for me he'd be the least of our worries about players able to cut it or not. I'd have him ahead of half the squad with potential to make it. Most of our players have done brilliant this year and are good, consistent, hard-working Championship players but the Prem will require a different caliber of player. I would guess about half the squad will make it, the other half will be sold/released.

Routledge's future with us depends on who ends up as manager. I agree, he's not really prem quality in truth - he goes missing at crucial times. (Yet more polished and skillful than all barring Adel in our squad and more athletic - tells its own story that...)

Sir Neil would probably keep him and work on him.

Other managers would probably opt for someone who's interested and with more of a cutting edge.
