Thought a few peeps on here may be interested in one of Rooney's latest tweets:

"Have to say. The job lambert has done at norwich last 3 years is incredible."

    A nice bit of recognition!

    And Michael Owen:

"Looking at the league table, can't believe how well Norwich have done so far."

    <angling for a final pay day emoticon>?

Nice to see from two class players. Glad to see we are getting the recognition we deserve.

Owen to Norwich City!!!! Although with a serious pay cut of course, haha

I wouldn't want Owen at Norwich - he's too preoccupied with his racehorses nowadays. He'd be at Newmarket all the time picking up his pay packet after yet another hamstring pull!

Id have him on a pay as you play deal or something. Injuries aside he is still one of the greatest finishers of all time and will score if given a chance as shown by his recordat Utd when he does play i.e. carling cup

Might raise our global profile slightly too which could be a worth a bit of dosh

I wouldn't want Owen, he would still want to be paid a stupid amount of money and he does not fit in with the team's mentality. We have a bunch of players desperate to prove themselves at this level, they're hungry and brimming with confidence. Owen is a has-been that likely doesn't feel the need to prove himself. He just wouldn't share the same team spirit we have. He would only get injured anyway.

I don't mean to bash the lad too much, he was once a great player and he seems like a decent chap.

They've got two weeks to focus on us seeing as they are no longer in the FA cup.

Am I the only one who is isn't in the least bit interested in what Wayne Rooney says on Twitter or anywhere else? Or what he thinks about anything for that matter. The time he spends on Twitter would be better spent reflecting on his own stupidity, e.g in getting himself banned for most of the group stages of Euro 2012.

Bit harsh. The comment doesnt harm anyone. If you're not interested just dont follow him, if you are, do.

Fair enough he has done some silly things in the past but not that awful. Why should he have to sit and reflect on that all his life being unhappy. Hopefully he has learnt a bit from his mistakes and move on. His conduct in the MU - liverpool game was quite mature and professional I thought.

Thought you all might be interested in what I've just tweeted:

"The job Sir Alex Ferguson has done at Man U over the last thirty years is incredible"

If anyone is interested in following me I'm @inanecommentsbypeoplewithabsolutelynothingofinteresttosayaboutanything -- (or I would be except that, for some reason, Twitter won't accept my user name).

I feel sure there's a lot of hugely disappointed people out there who would like to follow me on Twitter. Don't worry guys, instead of tweeting my inane thoughts for your benefit, I'm going to sign on to Blogger. A blog is so much more versatile as a medium for broadcasting inanities to a world hanging on my words.

If theres people who follow and enjoy reading his tweets - which there are. Then let them get on with it.

If you dont then fair enough as well.

Surely you writing comments on a football forum is sort of the same thing?

Yes sort of, but in this case it's more like meeting your mates at the pub. <cheers>

You more of a coach and horses or queen of iceni man before match day?

Or do you mingle with away fans at the angler? I think thats where the majority head.

Getting back to the OP, the point I am trying to make is that praise is only worth taking seriously if it comes from someone whose opinion on the matter is worth something. Rooney is undoubtedly a talented footballer, but I have never ever heard him say anything of interest about anything, not even football. His public utterances are without exception mind-numbingly banal.
As an aside, it seems clear to me that PL looks for intelligence in a footballer. Pretty much without exception, whenever a City player is interviewed, they come over as sensible, interesting, thoughful and insightful. They don't speak in cliches, and they don't just repeat the standard mantras. That goes a long way to explaining our success on the field IMO. <ok>
