After the surprise of Rooney starting in midfield(thought he did ok). But what does that say for his position in the Team next year? And does this meen that he is no longer the main man upfront with Van Persie? And Kagawa on the wing seemed a strange choice (position wise), whats your take?

He's still a striker, I think Fergie is just trying to get the team to play decently for the first time in quite sometime. Kagawa has played on the wing fairly often so that's not too big of a deal. His problem is his favored position is currently occupied by Wayne Rooney, so he's going to be moved around positionally for a while.

I just can't work out what's going on with Rooney, I do think he could be sold though would like to see Kagawa just behind the Stricker(s) alot more, his performances for Dortmund last year where outstanding so we know he has the quality to shine.

I think it's a possibilty he could well play as one of a three man midfield.

He's certainly got the ability and with there being strong rumours on us pursuing one of Falcao and Ledanowski (?) then rather than sell him he could move back.

I think we'd need to buy a strong defensive CM to go with him and Carrick but it could well work.

I can see a good close season shake up this summer, it's needed too.

The Falcao rumour seems very strong and apparently we had a scout at the match at the weekend watching him get a brace.I think Lewandoski may be going to Munich I take your point about moving him and not selling, I suppose that would primarily be Rooneys decision to drop back, but he looked comfortable and more importantly happy in that position. Wonder if Fergie will play him in same roll against West Ham?

    Ideally? Roy Keane.

Ok, he wasn't so much a DM as a box to box, the point being we've had no one of that quality since him and nor do they exist. I'm not sure we need one to be overly defensive as such, more that they are a capable tackler as Carrick isn't really, he's more of a positional interceptor.

In world football Bastian Schweinsteiger but I've been saying that for about five years and it looks like he'd never leave Bayern so looks out of the question.

Kevin Strootman maybe a realistic target? Love to say I'd seen loads of him play but I haven't so that isn't based on a great deal of knowledge. Danielle De Rossi is also a good player but maybe on the wrong side of his peak.

Not sure it's Rooneys decision on where he plays by the way, Fergie picks the side so if he's told to play CM then he will play there.
Otherwise he'd be shown the door I suggest.

Rooney needs to improve his short passing to be a central midfielder, he gives the ball away far too often.

What I ment was that it's up to Rooney as in if he wants to stay then that may be his role, otherwise as you say Fergie will kick his arse on his way out.

Not a bad point great picking out a pass, slotting a ball through but it's the simple things that are important, that's why Carrick is ideal, nice and simple, then picks out a raking pass and it's 1-0
