Oh surely not? 43 goals in 99 caps? That's just crap!

43 goals in 99 games IS great. Is he an ENGLAND great, no. Compare him as an all round footballer such as the likes of Moore, Charlton (either of them), Keegan, Francis, Wilkins, Pearce, Lineker, Shearer, Sheringham and he is MILES behind. He's not even a good person in my opinion.

    Fair comment mate.

I am always able to separate my dislike for someone as a person (unless they have committed some serious crime etc) and whether I rate them as a player.

I think he's one of the most gifted players I've seen, although he has always disappointed at the tournaments, unfortunately.

Which Francis are you referring to?

Gerry or Trevor! As a club player, Rooney HAS been outstanding. As an International, he will never be a 'great'. Far too petulant, and for him to have a pop at England fans for booing him, well that's just another insult.

Is this the match thread or the kick Rooney thread?

Well he's not exactly setting the game alight, so far!

Well he just set Sterling up with a perfect pass, but he fluffed his shot on goal.

......and again, this time Sterling did not shoot.

This match needs a goal to liven it up.

I think so, especially if supported by OBZ - makes sense to play a pair together at international level who are already familiar with one another at club level.

I see in League 1 play, Shaun Derry got back to winning ways beating Coventry 1-0 at the Richo bringing them up to 4th in the table with a game in hand.

    This is also quite remarkable:-

Northern Ireland goalkeeper Roy Carroll played his second game in 24 hours and kept a clean sheet as Notts County beat Coventry City thanks to Garry Thompson's second-half strike. Carroll played for his country in Friday night's 2-0 loss in Romania and did not arrive back in England until the early hours of Saturday morning.
The 37-year-old had little to do in a quiet first half which Notts edged.

Roy Carroll (right) is congratulated by Notts manager Shaun Derry, who has described his goalkeeper as the best in League One

The fox got in the hen house!

    Now Rooney wins a penalty!

    Great penalty, 1-1, fantastic response!

2-1 up now, penalty plus a rather flukey goal.

Looks like Coventry and Notts County are both vying for the worst kit of the season award......

Good to see a player like Carroll playing twice in 2 days, a good pro....

Austria 1 Russia 0 - Capello off to the Gulag? Now that's one way for them to get out of paying him for his so called services!
