Garth Crook decided that Hennessey (who had a shocker in moments of the sunderland game) had the best game out of all goalkeepers who played this weekend.

How on God's earth does Krul not beat Hennessey??

Conceding three goals does not reflect an overall performance, Krul performed miles better than Hennessey did.

    Shocking.

It's because Krul let 3 past him. At the end of the day, his responsibility is to stop the ball going past him, which he failed miserably at. I like Krul, i think he's an exceptional talent, but he shouldn't be in the team of the week this time.

"Made seven saves, the second most of any goalkeeper this weekend and his joint-highest figure in any game this season."

Any chance that Krul made the most? <whistle>

Hennessey saved his team points, Krul only saved us embarrassment.

Not all of it, i'm not a newcastle fan. I was buying supplies for the Arsenal game. From what i saw though, Krul could have done better. Look, don't sulk because your guy didn't make the team. Theres always next week.

To be honest it'll have more to do with the final result. They won, we lost.

Unless we get an extra point for Krul being in the team.

Shame football doesn't work like that. I'd like an extra point each time a defender scores... <whistle>

Ha point proven then really .. If you had seen all the game you would of seen he was outstanding, against one of the best strike forces in the league .. Its not sulking its stating what i think is fact .. Hennessy played well against an under performing, average team.

It really doesn't matter what Garth Crooks says.

Though Kyle, Krul had an outstanding game and I don't honestly think he could have done better at all. By the end of the match when the 2 goals went in he would have been ****ing exhausted because he made at least 7 or 8 stunning saves and a handful of other important ones too, add to that he had no centrebacks on the pitch by then either and had been probably our most active player <laugh>.

Why does nobody accidentally call him Garth Brooks anymore? I used to love it when that happened.

He puts Phil Jones in the team at CB - he played CM at the weekend, messing that up.
He put Fletcher in midfield - RVP ahead of him at ST when RVP had an off week in terms of scoring. He could have had 5.
He puts Evra at LB despite Man U playing poorly, and also Hennessey when Hennesey made a hash of the first goal. Krul or Jaaskelainen should be here

The only two games I saw this weekend were ours, and Wolves v Sunderland yesterday. Can't say I remember the Wolves GK making that many saves (other than saving a poor penalty from Larsson), Westwood in the Sunderland goal made a couple of blinders though.

Like has been said, don't think he looked beyond the fact that Krul was in a side that lost 3-0 - regardless of some outstanding saves. There's nothing he could have done about the Chelsea goals.

There may have been a worthy candidate in the other Saturday / Sunday games but as I didn't see any of them, and I didn't see MOTD this week, I don't know.

Can't have that myself, Hennessey deserved it. He won his team points at the end of the day. Krul was excellent again making some cracking saves.

i even recall mr pardew saying the krul day 'the game of his life'. as someone mentioned earlier, hennessey made a hash of the first goal (which i saw) before rushing off his line and almost gifting sunderland a second goal. i just cannot comprehend how it is hennessey who gets in the team of the week when actually he was poor?! okay he saved a penalty, so did krul?!

    not having this.

Hennessey was at fault for the sunderland goal. if he hadnt dived out of the4 way of richardson's shot it would have been a routine save

Don't think you can have a keeper in there that was at the wrong end of 3-0.

Yup it was Hennessey's fault for the goal and all of his saves were routine ones straight at him mostly from distance, except for his penalty save but Krul made a better pen save. It does seem bizarre but who cares really.

Note that it is just players whos teams have won. Garth crooks basically decides on that and whether the player has scored a goal or not. Dreadful pundit.
