His Father is a very decent man, always has time to respond to people on twitter and you can tell he really appreciates the public interest in his son.

If he doesn't get a chance next season I think his dad will try and get him out of Sunderland and understandably so.

You could sense his dads frustration on Twitter at the back end of the season when he wasn't getting in the squad

If he doesn't get a chance next season he can walk into any club who's interested. He'll be out of contract and we'll have to make do with a ****ty tribunal fee.

Hopefully both parties are committed to him signing once he graduates - in both senses!

If we **** up this young lad's short term future, and his transition into the first team, well, I guess I'll be struggling to explain to anybody how we can be trusted to manage any young talent's transition to any professional level.

He's 21 though, folk go on like he's 18 or something. He needs game time, if he doesn't get you can bet your arse he'll be off and he won't be signing until it happens. He needs competitive games to develop, if I wasn't getting it I'd be off too.

Got to have faith that he'll get his chance. Good thing is that he can't sign a pre contract agreement going into the last 6 months because of his age so we do have a full 12 months bleed him in and satisfy his terms

Jeez you're right into these contract details <ok>

This kid is the real deal though ain't he? I'm pretty confident that the club's got a thousand eyes on his every step of the way, and I fully expect him to be rewarded with a full squad place next season.

He looks it but there's no guarantee.

The problem with last season, like Advocaat said, was we were in the sh*t and we needed experience to get us out.

I couldnt think of a worse situation than tossing a young up and coming player into the pressure cooker of a relegation battle. If he failed a lot of our fans would get on his back, and then his confidence would drop, and more than likely stunt his growth.

He needs a solid pre season, prove how good he is with the first team and work hard to get into it.

Any guys remember Ryan Noble. Scored like crazy in the u21, now where is he?

He needs to be on the bench every game and get as many 15-20 minute run outs as possible to see what we have. I would also start him for all possible early round cup games.

Wouldn't he be far more suited to the left wing/forward role than Wickham? (assuming we keep with the 4-3-3/4-5-1 thing).

Anybody is far more suited to the left wing/forward role than Wickham.

If anyone was wondering how Watmore got on today for England u20s. Aidy Boothroyd played him at left back! <doh>
Then switched him to right back for a spell, always trying to get forward from deep, but by the time he was moved further forward he was flagging and we were chasing the game. Aidy is clueless, we were the worst organised team in that group, and that must be down to him.
