Forward Duncan Watmore has extended his contract at the Stadium of Light until June 2016. The 20-year-old is in his second season on Wearside, having joined the development squad in the summer of 2013 from Altrincham of the Conference. He made his first-team debut last season as a substitute in the 3-1 win over Carlisle United in the FA Cup with Budweiser and also spent time on loan with Hibernian. Speaking about his new deal, Duncan said: “I’m delighted to commit my future to Sunderland. “I’m enjoying my football; I have learnt a lot since joining the club and hope to continue progressing and developing my game.”
Looks like the club is being run properly now and planning long term. We need to become a club where youngsters can come, learn their trade and be given a chance. Watmore will be a very good player imo and I'm very pleased about this.
I think he'll start to feature soon fella. he's one of only three attacking players with pace in the entire squad. We're going to need him imo sooner or later.
Watmore on one wing and Buckley on the other.....would love to see that one. I think tomorrow we will see a team doing the same sort of thing with Dyer and Routledge. Can be devastating at times......
