Everyone at Watford accepts that we are a selling club. It is somewhat harder to accept players being sold at what we feel is the wrong time.

Would January be the right time to sell Mariappa or Sordell, bearing in mind our lack of goals and the uncertainty over Nosworthy's loan and Taylor's fitness? The team's success at the moment is based on a balance that took us many painful weeks to find. If we have two key pillars of that side ripped out mid-season, we might yet end up going down. Even if we only stay there for one season (which is optimistic), the amount of revenue we would lose would outweigh any increase in the transfer fee we received for those players.

Quite a lot of good things in there. GT clearly prepared to continue, but not afraid to speak his mind still. DF thinks that the bonds will be repayed ok. SW corner has not been put on hold, although no details. East Stand still on the agenda. Baz prepared to go along with good advice and he has changed.

Not so good though is the fact that the directors do not know still where Baz wants to take the club.

All this sounds promising, except Baz's reluctance to indicate where he wants the club to go. I thought there was only one shareholder, and that wasn't Muir Stratford.

Come January we could lose all sorts of players; Scott Loach, Adrian Mariappa and Marvin Sordell being the obvious picks, but what of the loanees and what happens if another team came in with a sizable offer for John Eustace, Prince Buaben or any of the other less obvious, but integral players? Then what happens? Will be back in the position of relying on the youngsters, could we get some new or renewed loans or even buy?

Looking good GT continues to show his immense humanity. As its the football club and not wfcl gm. I'd be surprised if baz was there tbh. Fransen continues to be top dog in my book yes we're a selling club but for the bonds to get paid df must be happy with the pipeline. Lasjan window we didn't sell and I don't see us selling this time unless its sTupid money or deadwood clearance.a

That's a number I'd look at seriously but would add a sell on clause and then yes probably. Also depends what I could bring in.

Yeah thats what I think the club will be thinking as well! Worst case scenario Kightly and Noz go back to their parent clubs and Marvin , Mapps and Scott leave !
Then we have to build a new team again ! although if those three were sold you should bring in at least £7M which would make a big chunk of the bond payments!

I think that you could ask more for Sordell than we did for Graham on the basis that Marvin is a proven U21 international player, is younger which gives him more time to develop further and can get goals if given the right service. Danny had one very good season and had to be a chance signing that he could get goals in the Prem.

Against which we are known as a selling club which tends to drive the price down! All for trying to more though:) but would rather he stays till the summer!

As GT said every champ club is a selling club. Lets not get worried about things that don't make football or business sense. If we sell in this window it wil be carefully considered sale to improve our future. Any player that goes will need to command a disruption payment as well as their playing value, we haven't got the points to be able to sell on the cheap, we don't need to.

We will see what kind of disruption pans out in Jan! Hoping it will be minimal! Would be nice that if there has to be a window it should be limited to close season! That way we only get stuffed over once a season!

It remains a worry that our owner and main decision maker is such a loose cannon. GT says "there are ups and downs with him" and others say that the directors have to work hard to keep him on the "straight and narrow". None of the directors seem to know his motivation for taking over the club--he was not acting as a fan--and none of them seems to know his ultimate plans for the club. A rather astonishing situation. Clearly anything could happen with him in charge. The financial picture remains murky -- he is paying back some obligations late, and Fransen "thinks" he can pay the next bond installment. Without selling players? We need to sell to keep us in working capital and fund ground improvements, so let us hope the bond repayments are not dependent on player sales too.

I can well imagine that the SW corner could be finished with player sales, after all they only need small change for that in comparison with a new East Stand. For the bond repayments and running at a loss costs, plus the new pitch this coming summer, will that be from player sales or is there another source of income? As Roger says, "murky"
