    Arsenal Starting XI:

Leno, Mustafi, Koscielny, Mavrapanos, Monreal, Torreira, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Ramsey, Iwobi, Aubameyang

    Subs:

Cech, Elneny, Lacazette, Ozil, Maitland-Niles, Guendouzi, Kolasinac

Looks like we're playing a 4-2-3-1. Although our fullbacks are our weakest area. Mustafi and Monreal are going to get roasted on the flanks...

Mustafi and Koscielny really need to stay on their feet and focus on defending. Too much time falling over trying to win fouls.

    HT. 0-1.

Watford have actually looked more dangerous with 10 men than with 11!

Definite red for Deeney by the way, especially from the linesman's perspective who saw him chuck a 'cheeky' arm out at Torreira. There was no need for it. He can moan at Torreira and Emery all he likes, but he knew what he was doing. Only has himself to blame for that.

That being said, we are panicking too much and aren't composed in possession at all. We are playing as if they still have 11 men and we aren't closing them down. Doucoure and Capoue are gliding through our midfield with ease and there is no-one intercepting.

Mavrapanos is getting touch tight to Gray, which is allowing him to spin away from him into the channels too easily.

Mkhitaryan, yet again, has been awful. Terrible final ball when it matters and hasn't been defending enough.

Monreal has no positional sense at all. They almost hit us on the counter twice because he was too far forward.

Overall, it is a poor performance. We will not win if we have another half like that.

Need to take control of midfield and hold the ball up better.

Agree with that, also we don't seem to have a clue how to play an away game which I find really strange considering Emery is supposed to be such a tactician.

This is another shocking away performance, too many players not putting in the work rate an away performance requires.

Agreed, but to be fair, we had a lot of chances in that game to get a second goal and possibly more, but we were far too casual in the penalty area.

Given our high conversion rate this season, we were unusually wasteful in attacking areas today.

Still, a clean sheet, 3 points away from home and that ****er Deeney costs his team the game.
    Could be worse! <laugh>

This Arsenal side with some of the talents, particularly on top, is one of the weakest Arsenal team (mentally) ever. They lack passion and leader. No hunger, no passion, no desire! If we had gone down to 10men, Watford would have been out of sight by half time. Had to switch off the game with 15mins ago, it was a feck fest!

Agreed. I also want to give a shoutout to Mustafi, who actually had a very good game. He made a few needless fouls (albeit far away from our penalty area), but he made a lot of vital interceptions and clearances.

I don't rate the guy at all, but I will give credit where it's due.

He won 100% of his 7 aerial duels too, so goes to show that he was very effective in swatting away their bombardment of long balls and crosses into the box.

    Mate, come on.

We have already bettered our points tally from the entirety of last season with 5 games to go, we're in pole position for 4th place, we're in the driving seat heading into the Europa League QF second leg, we've got a vital away win tonight and you want to talk about no passion or leadership?

Look at the bigger picture please.

yup poor performance, but I dont really care.

3 points and a first away clean sheet of the season.

Troy Deeney's reputation came before him this game.

“Whenever I play Arsenal, I'll go up and think, 'let me whack the first one and see who wants it.'” - Deeney, 2017.

to get top 4 I think we need to win 2 of our 3 remaining away games. (thinking leicester and burnley).

    We can do it.
