    WATFORD v READING
please log in to view this image

    Venue: Vicarage Road
    Date: 14th March 2015
    Time: 15.00
    GMT
ALL: Please be at your seats by 14:45 tomorrow.
My link between Watford and Reading was going to be about a player who scored a hatful of goals for the Royals, but when he joined Watford he forgot to bring his compass with him. Trevor Senior was signed in 1987 for £325,000, but having only scored one league goal for us was shipped out to Middlesbrough for £200,000. Somehow though my interest in football has been downgraded this week as I seek news of our Hornet fan in hospital following the horrendous attack on him after the game last Saturday. Tomorrow we may see our team trying to earn another three points in their push for promotion, but there will be one voice missing and one seat empty as Nic Cruwys continues his own battle.

"I watched Reading-Wigan and on Tuesday I went to watch Reading v Brighton and they did a great job; they were concentrating on getting three points in the Championship.

"I'm not sure exactly what Steve Clarke is going to do because he has used many different players in a similar structure of the team.

"It's not a situation under my control. What's important is that we must have the responsibility to deal with whatever Reading is going to do.

"This is the Championship and you must always be ready to compete. Reading can surprise us if we're not totally ready."

“This weekend is going to be a juggling act for me as a manager. It’s a little unusual, it’s a situation you get maybe once a year with an Easter weekend if you’re unfortunate with how the fixture falls. For the supporters though, they can turn up, get to the game and support the team that’s selected on the pitch.”

“You can tell by the team selection the other night there were one or two knocks, bumps and bruises that affected us from Bradford away. But we adapted very well to it, the only disappointing thing was maybe that Juri Travner who would have played left back was also injured. He’s waited patiently for a long time for his chance, he’s also picked up a little knock. I’m hopeful he’ll be available or the weekend but not confident.”

    Injuries .

Watford. Watford will make late decisions over the fitness of top scorer Odion Ighalo and Almen Abdi ahead of tomorrow’s Championship clash with Reading at Vicarage Road.

The Nigerian striker was absent from Saturday’s draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers with a hamstring injury and, while he hasn’t trained this week, he will undergo a late fitness test before the game.
Almen Abdi limped off against Wolves with a hamstring injury and the Hornets will make a late decision on the Swiss maestro’s fitness.

Sean Murray (knee) is ruled out while Tommie Hoban is suspended after being sent off at Molineux on Saturday.

The race for promotion could not be tighter with only ten games to go as the table shows.

    1 Bournemouth 36 35 66

    2 Derby 36 29 66

    3 Watford 36 28 66

    4 Middlesb’gh 36 28 66

    5 Norwich 36 31 65

    6 Brentford 36 12 62

    7 Ipswich 36 17 61

    8 Wolves 36 6 58

    The Match Officials:

Darren Bond from Lancashire, has taken the reins of thirty-one fixtures this season, with nine of them coming from the Championship.

Dumitru-Ravel Cheosiaua and Andy Hendley will assist Bond with Rob Lewis being inbetween the two dugouts as fourth official.

For one minute I dreamed Stuart Atwell would return to Vicarage Road, with special FL instuctions to find another ghost goal.

This feels like the sort of game that in our current form we should win straightforwardly 2-0, so I expect an annoying 0-1 loss!

Thank you OFH, I can not believe that either Abdi or Ighalo will be risked tomorrow in light of the up coming fixtures and then loose them for the longer term in bringing them back to soon especially as the later has not trained this week. Ipswich after the international break a more sensible target for them. Hoping for a Watford win any score will do.

    Club have asked:

"WATFORD FC wishes to respectfully request that supporters are at their seats by 2.45pm before kick-off against Reading at Vicarage Road"

Clearly doing something in support of our injured friend.

Thank you for the thread OFH. Team needs to keep its cool tomorrow and not lose shape or discipline - do that and we should be ok. Here's hoping.

Thanks for the thread OFH - <magic>

3 points please, even if we can Nic a late goal for him, I´d take that! ;)

If we are to go up, this is the first of the final 10 we need to win. :emoticon-0165-muscl

Nice one OFH - thanks for this.

Going back to my old fav 3-1 win tomorrow.

Very nice words from the CEO in his programme notes - saying what all of us are thinking. Makes you proud to support such a wonderful club.

It's going to be an emotional afternoon. There is a lot going on for our injured friend, starting early. The tweets from the players tonight have been nothing short of wonderful, stressing not only their desire for promotion but also their support for Nick Cruwys. There will be, i'm sure, a feeling of togetherness that many even infiltrate into the Reading end before the game. Once the whistle blows though, hopefully we will be thinking of the job in hand, still a lonf way to go. I predict a 3-1 as always, though hoping for more! I weirdly can't see us losing tomorrow, which is never a good sign!

    COYH!

From what I'm reading there certainly seems to be an extra feeling of unity around this week which makes you feel more proud of the club. Let's hope the feeling somehow helps Nic in his recovery. For the game, I feel the club is invincible this week, which like Hornette says, could be dangerous! Still, I wouldn't normally be as bold as this, but I'm going for 3-0. COYH!

2-1 Half time. Quite a game going on there.

BBC website appears to have totally crashed.

I´ve got up, made a coffee and thought it was my computer or the unusually terrible weather here that had put BBC down.

Oh well Espn for other updates then....

4-1 Boro now. We will need a few goals to help out on the GD.
