Take them rose tinted goggles off…the only decision you can really be aggrieved was the goal as a borderline offside in the build up, although prefer refs making slight mistakes than VAR myself, good performance by you and we were just awful from minute 1…Farke made excuses about 4 playing 120 minutes the other night but playing Liam Cooper killed us and we really could’ve still nicked it! Thought Bashiru looks a real talent for you
Terrific match. TC might get the job yet. If this is how he's going to get the players to play, together as a team, with spirit and attacking intent, then I'm all for it and his lack experience be damned.
He might need a older experienced head to help him develop but he is more Watford than most if not all of our recent managers
You had as good a penalty claim as we did. Neither were given so it evened itself out. VAR would probably have given both.
Not convinced by the worst officials argument. We've had worse, far more incompetent, third teams than that. That said, there were plenty of occasions where we didn't appear to get the rub of the 60-40 decisions, let alone the 50-50's, but nothing to get in a tiz about on one view from my seat in the stands. Leeds clearly had a bit more quality about them, seemed to make things look easier in attack, and yet, and yet... Watford got a draw from a match we could have won, from a match that we expected less than nothing from in the first place.
Was nice to see a first half with intent and obviously a plan to be on the front foot. And trying something different too in terms of tactics and formations . Maybe not quite the right subs but then no one except Georgi could say they ought go have got on first .
We lost our speed and creativity when Deni and Asprilla went off unfortunately... yes... thier goal looked offside...and on another say we would have had a penalty. Bachmann played well and made a couple of good saves...
Or had we run out of puff..and no one could replace Dennis and Asprilla? I worry for next season as we will lose Asprilla and probably Dennis
Sommerville was MOM which I would question, there were a lot of great performances from us which derserved a shout.
thought ref ok as he let the game flow and did not produce any cards. I thought one of the linesmen was a bit poor though.
I don't think it was the fact that they went off - more to do with who replaced them. Kone looked lost for some reason- and Ince should simply never been brought on ahead of Martins. Something did go missing at half time though. Our first half performance was the best for ages - the transition out of defence into midfield and then attack at speed was a joy to behold, and very likely took Leeds by surprise -had they done their homework, there's no way they would have been expecting that - however all that disappeared in the second half when we fell back into old bad habits. Sideways and backwards passing all at walking pace - and allowed ourselves to be overrun in midfield where we seemed to have no presence. For that reason alone, I think Livermore should have been brought on. But can't really complain - a much improved performance and a point when none were expected is not to be sniffed at.
Player ratings from Flashscore. Not sure I agree with them - our back three performed better than that - and I'm not sure what Kayembe did to deserve his high score...
So, that having been said: how the referee has not given a penalty for Ampadu's challenge is an enigma wrapped up in a mystery. Shocker. Yeah, so Somerville was offside for the equaliser. Tight, very tight. The assistant referee seemed quick to flag for everything in the second half, not that I've seen it back. Even so...
