    WATFORD v FULHAM

    Vicarage Road Stadium
    Tuesday 2nd April 2019
    Kick Off 1945 BST

Javi Gracia's Watford will welcome Premier League strugglers Fulham to Vicarage Road on Tuesday evening.
Following Huddersfield Town's relegation on Saturday, Fulham simply cannot afford to drop points if they want to extend their stay in the top flight.
Defeat against Watford would confirm their return to the Championship, whilst a draw would leave them needing a miracle if they are to survive. Fulham need a win on Tuesday, but history is not on their side. The two teams have met on seven occasions, with the Cottagers emerging victorious just once, and that came back in 2005.

Scott Parker took temporary control on February 28 after Fulham sacked Claudio Ranieri, becoming the third manager at Craven Cottage this term.
Slavisa Jokanovic paid the price for failing to bring Premier League stability despite the club spending more than £100million in the summer transfer market.

Everyone was disappointed by the result at Old Trafford on Saturday, when for long periods Watford seemed to be in charge. A repeat display of attacking football would surely bring a different result against a side that are lacking in confidence. However we do not know what Javi will do with the semi-final of the FA Cup only days away. He does have a good squad that he can shuffle around, but will he play everyone who he has in mind for the Wembley team?

Jose Holebas was deemed only fit enough for a place on the bench Saturday, but might be recalled. Tom Cleverley still has problems with a calf injury.

Fulham face the possibility of needing to score goals without Aleksandar Mitrovic who, alongside Tim Ream and Jean Michael Seri, missed out against Manchester City after returning from the international break unfit. Long-term absentees Alfie Mawson and Marcus Bettinelli remain sidelined through their respective knee injuries.

A return to winning ways would be welcome, so let's hope that not too many players are concerned about stepping out at Wembley. Troy certainly seems to have this game in his list of must does.

Deeney insists his teammates have their focus solely on the Cottagers before any thoughts of the “razzmatazz” associated with a cup semi-final.

“We won’t sit there and moan [after Saturday],” he added. “We have a big week coming up and we can go back to seventh on Tuesday if we can beat Fulham. If we do that, everyone starts talking about what a great season it has been again.

“We have only got to look at Tuesday. Nothing other than a win in that game really matters. If we play horrible and win 1-0, I don’t really care.

Very good luck to the Golden Boys, I feel sorry for Fulham but they are to blame for their troubles, they had an attractive Championship team that they dismantled and threw £100M at it and it hasn't worked.

I feel sorry for them also. The Championship team they had looked good enough to create problems for some of the sides in the PL. Slav when he won promotion at Watford wanted loads of money, and when they said no he departed. Fulham gave him the money, and it failed

Good luck to the Hornets tonight, we should be trying to emulate the Cardiff result.

Can’t make the game tonight as Mrs A1 had an op yesterday. Will be listening on 3CR. Full strength side is an interesting choice!
