In 117 previous matches between these two teams, Crystal Palace have won 49 and Watford 41 but the more recent fixtures have been dominated by Palace. Watford have beaten them just once since their return to the Premier League, while the Hornets’ record of just two wins in 16 matches includes defeat in the Championship play-off final in 2013 and FA Cup semi-final three years later. Last season, Palace won 2-1 at Selhurst Park thanks to late goals from Bakary Sako and James McArthur – after Daryl Janmaat had opened the scoring – but the reverse fixture was a goalless draw.

    Watford Team News
Gerard Deulofeu is expected to remain sidelined until the start of next month, but Watford could field an unchanged side for the third consecutive match. That would mean Will Hughes and Roberto Pereyra on the wings and Troy Deeney and Andre Gray up front, with all four having already opened their accounts for the new season.

    Watford Key Players
Roberto Pereyra – Two goals in the opening game against Brighton to continue where he left off at the end of last season.
Troy Deeney – Scored one and assisted one last weekend in the win against Burnley, as he looks to improve on the six goals he scored last season.
Andre Gray – Opened the scoring against his former team, Burnley, last weekend as – like Deeney – he bids for more goals than in the last campaign.

    Crystal Palace Team News
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will miss the game at Vicarage Road through suspension after his red card in the defeat to Liverpool. Palace were otherwise unchanged for that game following the win against Fulham, but Max Meyer, Cheikh Kouyate and Jordan Ayew are among those looking for their first starts. In place of Wan-Bissaka, Joel Ward is likely to start at right-back.

    Crystal Palace Key Players
Wilfried Zaha – Scored on the opening day before committing his future to Crystal Palace – news which went down very well at Selhurst Park.
Andros Townsend – Enigmatic winger, but after grabbing eight assists in the Premier League last season he has proved his worth.
Luka Milivojevic – While the majority of his goals tend to come from the penalty spot, the Serbian midfielder still reached double figures last season.

… must pull my finger out for getting a few of these going!

As to the game, I think we'll have a slightly better idea of our realistic expectations afterwards. A lot at stake for me as one of my besties is a CP STH... he has a horribly dry sense of humour when they win...

Hodgson is already whinging about Harry Hornet's splendid dive in front of Zaha. One of the funniest things seen at the Vic for ages. I'm not sure Gareth will dare do it again.

You have to admire Woy's TOTAL delusion in stating that Zaha does not dive! <doh>

I think we should ask to have his feet measured to make sure they are large enough to support his latest hairstyle.

    COYH COYH COYHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Hopefully I can watch this game, I've missed the last two.

Only SO to return so TC, NC, GD still out and now MB out aswell.

Does anyone reckon NC is shot? I hope not but the lack of news on him is worrying.

    Cheers for the thread OFH.

It might encourage him to do it again !

What a strange thing to bring up - that incident was 2 years ago !

Zaha took a lot of stick from the Watford crowd last season, he was quite annoyed on a couple of occasions he failed to impress the ref he was fouled. He is actually a really good player, CP would be lost without him.

Sunday is our annual Dunblane Cricket Match so unless it pours with rain (forecast to do so), I will not be able to stream as usual and add my succinct comments <laugh>.
The match is open on anyone, knowledge of or ability to play cricket is not required, we play on a football pitch which added to the lack of skill and no practice for 12 months makes it more random. Batters cannot be out for 6 balls, just in case a bowler manages to pitch the ball close enough to the bat or wickets to facilitate such an event. Hitting a boundary into the long grass is punished by the umpire raising his digit and a probable lost ball. Winners get a trophy and a sweet. Then its a short journey to The Tappit Hen for rehydration. <cheers>
Enjoy the game and lets make it 9 points, CP is another team we should be beating.:1980_boogie_down:

Wot a nob. Implying that Harry provoked the crowd to get on Zaha’s back for diving. Don’t worry Roy, we’ll be onto Zaha way before Harry has the chance to do anything.

Oh, and by coming out with this it means we’ll be on to Hodgson’s back now too. Well done Roy. Also, wasn’t Harry’s dive two seasons ago, so why is he coming out with it now?

So we have Mex who missed the last two wins with us, and are without Scullie who was there for the last two wins. What are you guys doing???:confused::confused: Next you'll be walking on the cracks in the pavement <yikes>

This I think will be a great game and might be won more with the minds than the skill. But could easily go either way. Can't see anything but goals so we need a few and therefore I hope Jannie gets forward a few more times than he was able at Burnley. Also hope Harry plays a blinder <laugh>

Sadly I think we will win 2-1 or 3-2 so we won't be top of the table. Have to wait a couple of weeks for that ;)

Enjoy one and all, including you Scullie. Hopefully you get to play a juicy reverse sweep at 1:28 and then it chucks it down :emoticon-0148-yes:

Good God! Can’t believe that! <laugh>
I honestly thought you were joking! There comes a point even Zaha must question his boss’s judgement there. ;)

Bizarre. <laugh> Perhaps he’s playing mind games, trying to put Harry off his game? Is a furry, 6’ Vespa crabro really top of his list of concerns?

    Roy Hodgson:
“Wilf Zaha does not dive for penalties. He gets knocked over sometimes – sometimes he gets knocked over or unbalanced without it being a penalty or a foul – because he runs at such speed and has such agility with the ball. But he certainly doesn’t dive.”

    <laugh> <rofl> :cheesy: :emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0136-giggl :emoticon-0140-rofl: <somersault>

In other places it has been pointed out that when Roy stated that Zaha doesn't dive, he displayed all the body language gestures that people do when they are lying, ie touching the nose and covering his mouth.

Of course, he may have been lying about his attitude towards Harry. It is possible that he thought that Harry was very funny, but I doubt it.
