Sounded an exciting match from the radio, Town played really well gainst top team that are flying? Fair result on balance? Was we robbed of that penalty?
Who played well? Anything to learn? Enjoyable evening out for you lot? Did those who posted and previewed the match really think we could win this one?

Good thing is other teams around us again fail to capitalise, so we are no worse off. Need 3 points at Huddersfield on lousy turf. Do we miss DJ...I rather think we do! How did hendo play?...and whats Loach, who I prefer on balance, doing on the bench with 'broken thumb'?!

    Sorry I couldnt drive up...thought about it.<ok>

Watford played well. They've, ahem, 'adopted' an Italian style of play unlike any Watford team we've seen before.

Town weren't great, but against a domestic side would have probably earned a point. Town had a couple of decent chances, including an overhead kick from Chops in the area.

Stearman looked weak to me for the most part, but seemed to pick up late on.

There was an absence of drive IMO. I guess if you've never seen the opposition play before, that must make it tough.

We should have had a stone bonker of a penalty and the referee was just gash all round! Deserved to lose to a team that were simply better than us!

Agree, I think league one is probably his level. I want to see Nouble given a start.

Ditto, though I do think he is a very good player and has actually played well. But not sure what he brings to our team, I'd prefer a lesser player to play instead of him, someone like Murphy, who may not be as technically good but brings more balance to the side and would also bring the best out of our other players

He managed to dislocate a finger during the first half so that would explain it <ok>

I forgot DU you don't get to see many games!

McGoldrick needs service preferably to feet and not the long ball hoofed up to him with opposition defenders all around him. I agree with ptc in as much as we are not playing to his strengths and the problems all boil down to a lack of creativity from Midfield. McGoldrick is technically a very good player and is streets ahead of Nouble who is all pace and no technique!

Don't give me that **** Warky you condiscending ****wit ;) There is plenty of service, otherwise where did all those DJ Campbell goals come from?? As for Nouble lacking technique, equally bollocks. Thank Christ you're not in the dugout.

Well, thanks everyone...a colourful round of comments indeed! Suffolk radio commentators seem more impressed by the overal effort. Guess the penalty might have changed the game, but for christs sake we do miss DJ, eh! How many have we scored since his strange departure?

As I've said McGoldrick looks like a very decent player but not sure I'd play him currently, he's played well but for me he hasn't really brought anything to the team. We're not creating many chances but from what I've seen he's not the type of player to overly be the one to either create or finish off chance, he's a good link striker who often scores goals due to his own ability rather than being there to finish off chances. But he reminds me of Stead in that he doesn't really play much of his football in the penalty box, infact probably our CB's go in the box more than he does. I think he'd be best in a real footballing side, off the main striker.

I think last night we were crying out for Murphy uptop to attack the crosses and offer an outlet for our defenders/midfielders.

The problem is when we play McGoldrick I think we always lack something upfront, as if we play him with Chopra we lack a physical presence, someone to flick the ball on, hold the ball up and attack the crosses as they come into the box. We need someone like this in the team especially how we are playing currently to offer an outlet. And if you play him upfront with someone like Murphy we lack a goalscorer and anyone to play on the shoulder of the last defender which again means we lack an outlet. So for me despite him playing well he should be left out. A I say I think a lesser player like Murphy would give us a more balanced lineup and would also bring the best out of Chopra!!

Have to say in the small cameos Nouble has made I've been fairly impressed and would actually like to see him given a bit more of a chance, especially ahead of McLean.

I like the fact that between SD & DU they have seen McGoldrick play for us once yet they seem to know him inside out.!

I have yet to see him have a poor game, he did ok last night, but agree he is not an out & out goal scorer. Chops is that type of player, on the evidence of Chops last couple of games he is getting some form back, I hope MM continues with Chops & McGoldrick upfront on saturday.
Nouble has done ok when called upon but I don't see anything in him that would put him ahead of McGoldrick on the team sheet.

I would have given Murphy at least 30mins last night, we did get a number of crosses in the box 2nd half last night, we did not manage to make the best of those oppertunities though, Nouble was relatively inaffective last night

    The goals are up

    http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,,16486_8512815,00.html

That first longshot that hit the bar... WOW what a goal that would have been! Chops looked unlucky not to score the overhead kick but from that brief highlight video and the radio coverage it seems like Watford are playing some stunning football at the moment and deserved the win.

You may gather from my username that it is a tad difficult to just 'pop over' to watch a game.
My opinions are obviously not based on seeing him live every week but they are my opinions nonetheless. Had the nickname McGoaldrought for a while, went on loan to league one and scored plenty but has so far failed to recreate the same form for us. I know he has only been here a few short weeks but I thought the point in bringing him in was so that he could hit the ground running and replace the goals lost in DJ's absence. It so far hasn't turned out that way.
