Prediction League Watford Predictions League Table

Thanks cologne. Discussing the Championship today with friends, they suggested that anything can happen in that division, and apart from the ultra rich in the PL there is a similar lack of certainty about results. It looks as though our guesswork once again suggests that could be true.

A dramatic week in the WPL which sees the 200 mark broken in style by Brian. This is the first time that has happened. Just for the sake of transparency it was achieved by 45 points (unique scoreline, Spurs v Newcastle) 90 points for being the only one to tip 0-0 for the Hornets, a further 90 for a unique score on the joker, and also 25 points for Palace v Fulham. The 90 points is the initial 25 plus 20 point bonus which is then doubled. There will be changes to the points system for next year, because my feeling is that 90 is too much for one match, but I obviously can't change in mid season. Brian moves into an 80 point lead followed by Chris. Hard luck to Frenchie who scored over a hundred but moved down the table. Other high scores were by NZ with 126, Andy with 117 and Matej with 124 - Our Mark also topped the 100 mark. The other Mark (from the BBC) had problems this week but then he had the Hornets down to lose, so it's only justice. Congratulations again to Brian

Cologne, I don't think the scoring should be changed. Brian deserves his reward for some truly amazing predictions. This sort of thing doesn't happen very often and if fewer points were given, a remarkable set of predictions could be overtaken by a series of just above average ones.

I have got over a hundred two weeks running. to move from 11th to 5th. For the next two weeks I will have a combined score of about 30 and start the tumble to my correct humble position in the table.

 

Don't worry NZ. I would only make changes to the scoring system after asking for feedback on it. Sometimes I wonder if we shouldn't have a simpler points system - for the sake of my small brain Counting up to 266 taxes me a bit ! Also the bonus system for unique scores was appropriate when we had over 30 posters tipping but our numbers are becoming a bit thinner these days, due to people having left the forum. I did say in the rules that 20 tippers was the lowest limit for unique scores to be counted, which makes sense, and we are nearly at that base line now.

No sooner has the 200 mark been broken, but it is starting to become a habit. Highest scorer of the week was Matej with 201 , this puts him up to 5th and also top of the family tree above Andy. No less than 6 others topped the hundred mark. Theo was second highest with 169 followed by Seb with 157. Brian still leads by exactly 80 points. We now have a break for the cup next weekend.

Well done to matej for last week and thank for the well wishes on my lucky week i would be more that happy if the points system was changed if it made Cologne work load any lighter as with out him this forum would not be as enjoyable (plus the other lads that help)

 

It does my brain in counting up over 200 without making mistakes Brian There could be changes made for next season, but I will ask for feedback from the others first before deciding on anything.

 

One advantage of the current system is if someone is 200 behind they know that they can still make it up

After the high scoring of the last couple of weeks it was back to normal this week. Highest score of the round was Hackney with 98. As a result there a few changes to the table this week. Frenchie has moved into 3rd place, but all the other top places remain the same. Nobody got the Watford scoreline correct. Also there were no points scored on the League Cup final because we all tipped on Man. City to win within normal time.​

Another moderate scoring week for us, which is unusual with the Horns winning. None of us got the goalless draw in the Merseyside derby, which was something of a surprise. Four of us managed to scrape over the hundred mark, with Seb getting the highest score of 109. No signs of Brian easing up - the only change at the top being that theghost took back 3rd place. Otherwise not a lot of change.

At 90 minutes I thought I was on for a good score this week. I stopped forecasting Watford to ever win on the basis I could enjoy it when they did. Much rather they picked up the points than me. Thanks again cologne.

PS. Lawro reckoned we would lose 0-2

 

Having checked, an extra 20 points has been added to Brian's score because I didn't, at first, realize that West Ham v Newcastle 2-0 was also a unique scoreline.

 

Thanks Cologne for the update .This Forum is a nice place to be apart of with people like Cologne that put the time in for others .i have had meet ups with 3 of the gut on here and i happy to say i know these nice people (unlike some of the horns other web sites)
