http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/130310-late-kick-off-returns-702102.aspx Hope it's positive and not all about loans!
Late kick-off is by some distance the best football coverage on the BBC (that's still not saying much). I don't get why they can't run it all season. Part of the BBC's mandate is to cover the gaps that commercial rivals are unlikely to bother with. Besides, it's a fairly cost-effective format, and probably delivers good ratings considering the time it's shown. Local radio already does a lot of the necessary ground work anyway, but who listens to that unless the match is actually on?
Depends who is on it...somebody from Palace or Charlton won't be too positive about it I suspect as they have complain in the past as we know.
I'll take your word for it Mark, but people tend to follow coverage of their club pretty much regardless. A lot of us read things about Watford whether positive or negative. Reading the unduly negative stuff isn't in any way an endorsement of the content, but whether we enjoy it or not a lot of us just can't help wanting to know what people think about our club. Same goes for TV in my opinion.
Did anyone see it? Had Zola on along with Nosworthy and Alec. Uwe Rösler (yes - the GERMAN ex Man City striker) as a studio guest was asked about our sutation - Whilst not complaining about the loan system we were using itself suggested we were denying the chance of our youth players coming through. I presume Lee Hodson had been moaning then... Not that I expect a League One manager to be bothered enough to do any form of research into our squad.
Alas I live on the wrong side of the hills so I had a choice of the SouthWest version: Reading, Wurzle City and Rovers, Brighton, Oxford, Wycombe, Swindon etc. Meanwhile, on BBC1 HD I got the NW version: Bolton, Blackpool (even they said they were lucky in the non-penalty stakes) Tranmere, Preston etc. Hope to watch it (the London & SE version) on i-player tonight. Not sure I'll get planning permission for the 120'+ mast needed to pick up London programmes...
Fez, if you've got Sky, the other BBC regions are about 980+, so I'm able to get the London & SE one despite living on this rock in the Channel.
alas not... won't give Murdoch my money! not directly, I'll watch sky down the pub. but I refuse to subscribe and I don't buy his papers! apparently all regions listed on i-player
well i've seen it now...and apart from Uwe Rosler who spouted unresearched clap trap, it was very good. Mark Bright declared we should have had two penalties (which of course we already knew) he pointed out that although we have loans, our youth are getting chances out on loan, and pointed out to Mr Rosler (who seems convinced that our whole team is foreign) that all the youth getting chances are English lol. Oh dear...well, it was very near the truth, and fairly positive, except for Mr Rosler.
Bit ironic for a German player who played over here to complain about lack of british players getting a chance anyway!
His exact words: "i believe an English club, the core of the squad should be English, mixed up with some foreign talent"... "You should give a natural path through for the youth, home grown talent." "Watford had a very good academy who produced a lot of talent, they find it now very difficult to go through into the first team" Oh dear Mr Rosler...why let the facts get in the way of a good story!
Ignorant to$$er - no more loans to Brentford please Thankfully, Mark Bright was there to talk some sense.
Just watched 'our bit'... More to the point, and nobody has mentioned it if they have noticed...but you'd think, the BBC, with their massive research capability, squillions of £££££££££s and journalistic skills.... would use the RIGHT F*****G BADGE. PIG IGNORANT! Our emblem, for several seasons now does not say Watford... it says WATFORD. Should get a job refereeing... Just don't mention our Not606 "Banner" sigh, I'm on a short fuse just now
