It seems that Swansea are being linked with an approach for our Vice-captain.

As we all know, he did a wonderful job of deputising for John Eustace whilst he was out injured, and has been a rock on the center of defence with Nyron Nosworthy. He is the quicker of the two so does a lot of the running, and wins the majority of the balls he challenges for, both in the air, and on the floor. As a captain, he is very vocal and can be heard barking his orders, and is not afraid to to give a player an ear full if need be. Surely it cannot be a coincidence that whilst he has been captain we have been on good undefeated runs, the latest being 8 undefeated through December and into the new year.

What I worry about is how badly we will miss him. We could see that against Reading something was missing. It may have been that Jonathon Hogg was out and we missed him, but i dont believe that the fact Marriappa was not captain was simply coincidence. I think that with out Marriappa our back four would be quite severely weakened and could collapse to some extent too. Whilst we do have Martin Taylor to come back and David Mirfin on the bench and Dale Bennet on loan, i feel that we dont quite have the replacement for what Marriappa gives us. Taylor is a similar player to Nosworthy and lacks the pace of Marriappa, Mirfin is, in my opinion, useless. He does not have the physical presence of Taylor and Nosworthy and lacks the pace of Marriappa. Bennet is out on loan currently and has expressed his desire to extend that loan as he is rather successful at Brentford.

So i genuinely worry about what would happen if we were to sell Adrian Marriappa this transfer window, especially if we dont get a replacement fast!!

That might be so AK, but if Rogers came up with £4,000,000 for him, would you say no?

Yes, I would say no because he is too valuable. Also if we sell marriappa, then we might end up selling sordell.

gawd Dan! Just as well there was nothing on Twitter or i might have thought he'd gone! Swansea were interested in him in the summer, he didn't go. We'd be lost without him to be honest, but i can see him going...though so far he's a one club man so you never know, he might want to be another Doyley! I hope he stays, it'd be a far more huge loss if he went than losing Sordell imho.

haha. Sorry H, I just wanted to get down what i have been thinking for a while now. I hope he is a one club man too as i explained. I think it would be as big a loss as Marv, if we cant score we have to at least prevent the other team scoring!

I will be disappointed if he does go, but honestly wouldn't blame him. Swansea is a rather attractive option right now
