    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Vicarage Road
    Date - 5 October 2022
    Kick off - 7:45pm

Following their hard fought away victory against West Brom, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a hard looking away match against promotion hopefuls Watford.

On Saturday, Michael Obafemi came off the bench to give the Swans a pulsating 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion.

Matthew Sorinola had put the Swans ahead at half-time, but Jake Livermore smashed home on 48 minutes, before Grady Diangana completed the turnaround.

Substitute Olivier Ntcham equalised for Swansea and both sides went looking for the winner.

It looked like it would arrive for the hosts when Armstrong Oko-Flex was harshly judged to have fouled Grant, but his late penalty was saved by Steven Benda.

Obafemi then fired home on 89 minutes as Swansea snatched all three points from draw specialists West Brom.

The defeat adds to the pressure on boss Steve Bruce with the Baggies having won just once in the Championship this term.

They remain 21st in the table, while Swansea's win - their third on the spin against West Brom - sees them rise to 11th.

The following day, new Watford manager Slaven Bilic got off to a sensational winning start as his rampant Hornets side scored four goals at hapless Stoke.

Ismaila Sarr earned Watford a deserved half-time lead when the linesman failed to flag, thereby allowing Sarr to controversially head home from 12 yards.

But there was no doubt about any of the other Watford goals as the visitors snuffed out any hopes of a second-half rally when they scored three times in the final half-hour.

Ken Sema got a close-range second on 64 minutes, before Keinan Davis and Vakoun Bayo wrapped up their biggest win in 18 months.

Watford are now up to seventh after ending their run of three league games without a win, 4 places above the Swans.

The Swans have played the Hornets on 51 previous occasions, winning 23, losing 18 and drawing 10.

In the corresponding fixture the season before last - the final fixture of the regular season - the already promoted Hornets ran out comfortable 2-0 winners, thanks to goals from Andre Gray and Isaac:

Turning to Wednesday evening - Bilic’s first home match since his appointment - Watford will he keen to build on Sunday’s impressive win at Stoke, whilst the Swans will be eager to record a third successive/consecutive victory for the first time under Russell Martin.

However, I think that Watford will come out on top, courtesy of a 2-0 victory. Hope I’m wrong <cheers>

Yeah, I'd be surprised if we get anything out of this match, but then again I expected nothing from the West Brom match.
2 - 0 sounds about right to me though.

Watford have the new manager bounce, as well as having a decent side... I also think it's a stretch too far for us.... hope I'm wrong, 3 - 1.

" Another one bites the dust "

At this rate Russell Martin may be last man standing. Oh the irony. <laugh>

Big game at the foot of Division One tonight, with the Swansea City connection, Brendan Rodgers v Steve Cooper.

They are both walking on egg shells. Who will crack first ?

That would mean Forest will have had 22/23 new signings and a new manager. Just imagine the financial implications of that if they go down !

Thanks Taff, I would like to think we can get a point from Watford but then again I am going to this one so it's probably a 2-1 defeat!

Conference leaders, Wrexham have sold 2,100 tickets for tonight’s match away at second placed Notts County <applause>

Had heavy showers this afternoon but stopped now and the strong winds have eased so it should be dry for the game.
