    is not a crime.

However, with the way many football supporters are treated in the modern game you begin to wonder:

    quote:
Firstly, it is important to state that the FSF is opposed to bubble matches for the simple reason they curtail the movement of ordinary, decent fans and that they do not necessarily prevent disorder.

Would I be right in thinking that once the away fans arrive - on the coach - they will be expected to enter the ground - thus their freedom of movement is withdrawn.
I can see the merits - and both sides of the argument - but can't help feeling it is a huge sledge hammer to crack a small nut ( Season Ticket Holders -sorry)
With the close proximity and rivalry between some of our London clubs - why have there not been many more ' Bubble ' matches - -is is because that there would be full scale riots if people were restricted in their movements on such a scale as in those London Derbies. Do the Police in Liverpool not consider the Meserside derby as a high profile game ? Manchester, Birmingham etc etc.. Logistically it would be a nightmare.
And at Priestfield - where do you put 120 coaches ( enough for 2400 away fans ) - where it is possible to corral all the fans - it would take enormous Police effort even to TRY to stop ONE fan from NOT entering the ground BEFORE he/she wanted... and the same would be said for many other clubs - including all the 'BIG' clubs.
I can sympathise with the authorities - looking to 'protect' ALL fans - but I'm not sure that forcing people onto a coach wont open up a different can of worms.
I am all in favour of trouble makers being brought to justice - but I think that the lack of justice, in general, in our society creates a situation where there is no deterrent - that needs to be addressed. I can easily see more trouble for the 'Home' team ( I don't mean the players ) - because if the fans are deemed to be hostile -you are not going to appeal to their better nature if you takeaway their frreedom of movement - they'll 'rip up the place' at the slightest drop of a hat.
Society need to get tough with criminals to ensure that crime does not pay - it is THAT bubble that needs to be burst.

If you had a Gills supporter living in Wolverhampton, is it reasonable to expect he should travel down to Gillingham to catch a coach going to Wolves, return to Gillingham post match so he can travel home to Wolverhampton.

The worlds gone mad! and our rights and freedoms have gone with it.

I don't know what they're moaning about - Haven't they realised that they live in KINGSTON - upon Hull ? - when they sort THAT out I'll take them seriously ( as if I take anything seriously - well maybe ONE subject )

edit -brb - if you haven't got proper ID this morning - you're not getting in my car - and be sure to use the STH door (the hatchback)

If you've read brb's CAMEL thread, you'll know that one of our northern (girlie) friends (Drakey X) had a small can of body spray confiscated before entry into Molinuex !!! ( usual Health & Safety reasons) ...................... YET
Inside the ground you could purchase glass bottles of beer ------ and NOT subjected to any further body search as you entered the seating area ( or where ALL the Home fans stood - without any fussing by the stewards )............ so what was the point of the nonsense outside the ground ?
I'd like to challenge brb to use the camel ID card that I showed him - to put it into his season ticket book and see if it gets picked up next week ---- although it might be hard to tell brb apart from a camel (sorry).....I shall be trying it myself....I reckon I could go the whole season without any turnstile operative noticing.
