Awesome post. Thank you for livening up our board with your insight and thought-provoking threads, we really appreciate it. Really, we do.
England's attackers may deliver as soon as they get someone half as good as Pirlo to actually give them some supply, Italy play a more attacking style than England and yet still defend much, much better, and more efficiently, they don't have to burn their legs out an hour into the game running around like headless chickens.
About 25 times a season. Rooney is so good that even with our slow and often average midfield he scores goals for fun. As for england, hes got one of the worst teams in world football ( compared with expectations ) supplying him. Far too many Liverpool, Chelsea and other clubs players not doing there job. I am pretty sure Wayne scored during the Euros aswell. The goal that won us our group. I wonder if Balotelli will make up for his embarrassing performance against spain last time.
To be fair; Euro 04 he was v good. World Cup 06, semi-injured. But great world-class players do something out of nothing, even without supply... look at Drogba v Bayern. Rooney does not do that for England; for United maybe. In Africa and Pukraine, he has had six games to do something special. The 'big man's back'; yeah, right
He wasnt fit in 2010 either. In 2004 he was fully fit, not suspended and not relied on to be the only player to do anything. England attempted to play like a team and had relative success. 2006 and 2010 he was injured. 2012 he didnt play for ages before the Euros and after a full season its going to be tough to come into a team in the last group game and be on fire. TBF he did score a goal so infact did do something out of nothing in a sense.
but the thing is, England are ****, they are really average, overhyped by the media, he can't score without any service, he didn't hardly have any good clear chance against italy, none of the striker's ddi apart from that Johnson chance because thats how piss poor England's attacking thread was. England is poor and always will be. Thats the truth.
In 2010 you can clearly see he wasn't full fit and injured, he didn't even run as much, normally Rooney would be running from attack to defense, from defense to attack but he didn't do that because he was still injured from that bayern injury and in that injury he got against Stoke. Rooney even confirmed it few weeks ago when he said in an interview that this euro 2012 was the first time in a international competition he was fully fit after Euro 2004.
he played a whole season, he didn't play first two games of Euro, he wasn't fully match fit and you people still expect him to come in and be on fire, the media are for blame too, they gave him too many expectation and i don't blame him, against Italy, England played defensive for the whole game, their attacking thread was ****, did he or did any striker in that game, Rooney,Carroll,Welbeck have one good chance in that game? no thats how **** England's attacking service was. Striker's score goals but how can they score without any service? do you expect Rooney to shoot from half way line and score?...Its the manager's fault, should of played attacking wise then defend for the whole game. England should of taken or asked Paul Scholes to come back to internationals, we did have a player who is like pirlo and can dictate the game and spray nice passes out and try and play striker's in and that is Scholes.
As was every english player. We did better than expected and credit to them for that but it was still awful.
better then expected? England were still awful, they seem better because all they did is defend defend defend
Yes we played 4 games, scored something called goals and actually touched the ball during some games. We were expected to be out by half time in game 1.
yeah but what i really think is we should of attacked more against Italy and created chances, we should of, after half time in that came, we just defended all game
I don't think that a United fan has ever labelled a united player as "Englands saviour" Yet we get all the nonsense thrown at us when, inevitably the united player doesn't meet expectations. The medias fault for peddling ****e, and you'se guys fault for swallowing it. As bad as each other.
I don't see how anyone can say that the whole England team was ****. We won the group which no-one was expecting and took the italians to extra time after they matched Spain in the group and before they beat Germany with relative ease, so they're clearly a tidy side. Hart, the four defenders, Gerrard, Milner and Parker all played well or very well even if it is fashionable to crucify Milner. Carroll was very good against Sweden and should have had more opportunities. Welbeck did ok over the course of the tournament. Oxlade-Chamberlain and Henderson did a fair job when used. Rooney and Young are the only players that really played any worse than you'd expect, and they were both dire.
We had something like 2nd least possession out of all of the teams after the group stage. Defence did well I reckon but that's about it, how you can praise a midfield that can't string more than 2 passes together and is incapable of closing down the other team is beyond me.
