The Times this morning gave our very own Conor Washington 8/10 for his performance for Northern Ireland against Ukraine, one of 3 NI players rated this highly, saying:

"The lone forward proved why he was preferred to Kyle Lafferty, whose goals had lead Northern Ireland to the finals, by running ceaselessly, chasing down every loose ball, harrying defenders, refusing to let Ukraine build from the back."

Note that he was playing alone upfront, a position which some of the sages on this forum claim that he is not equipped to do. OK, he didn't score but Euro 2016 could give him a welcome confidence boost. He hasn't been an instant success for us (who has in recent years?) but I like his endeavour, his pace and his ability to beat a man. With these attributes, I believe the goals will come, provided we fans, and the manager, give him a chance.

I watched the game and saw a lower league striker playing his guts out but not really being that effective other than in chasing down opponents due to lack of service. That's pretty much the same as we have seen from Conor when he's played at LR. The fact is that players like him thrive on fast breakaways and through balls on the ground neither of which QPR has provided for several seasons. He could yet be a star for us but it all depends on who the manager finds to replace Faurlin IMO.
