Stand Up For Barry‏@StandUpForBarry Apparently, this was the initial prototype for a new, 2012/13 Cardiff City logo. Thoughts? #CCFC http://twitpic.com/9qetq8
Hi Rhondda. Hope you're well mate. New logos have never really bothered me, there have been many changes in the 52 years that I've supported the club. That said, these days a change is a merchandising opportunity, and given our finances, anything that swells the coffers is a great thing. As for this particular design, I have to say, I love it. For me it is a strong statement of identity both of club and country. Including the year of foundation is excellent. I'd have no objection to seeing this as our emblem for the future.
Not as bad as it could have been, but it does remind me on the Cardiff County Council badge and therefore a bin lorry.
Hi Clingo, yes i'm well hope you are too mate. I must admit I like it too, better if we could get a bluebird in it somewhere but not the end of the world. Your right about the merchandising, when I started watching the City only the players could wear the shirts now they change every year. It would be nice to see more Cardiff shirts in South Wales rather than Man U or Liverpool but that will come when we are in the Prem.
please log in to view this image I DON'T LIKE IT! It looks as if the dragon is being put to the sword. The sword is far too prominent in the image and a slain dragon is not a positive image.
Good point Bob, and one I'd considered myself. But then I read it as the dragon surviving the threat of the sword (it doesn't look slain to me) and keeping the sword as the spoils of war! Gawd, I'll be on the South Bank Show next - not that I want to bragg Melvyn.
I don't dislike it and no doubt would get used to it but my initial impression is it's a little too 'NHL' for me. Will be interesting to see what they settle on eventually, if it is to be changed. Would be nice if the fans could be given several options and vote for their preferred one rather than "here you go, you're new badge"
I'm in two minds about the badge. I don't mind the shirt colour change, we've played in blue, white, black, yellow, purple and even red before, but I would have liked the Blue Bird on the badge and maybe the Dragon on the sleeve.
I put a couple of ? in the thread because this came from Twitter. At the end of the day, could you see Abramovich or Zayed Al Nahyan asking their fans ?
Not overly fussed on the design to be honest but it may grow on me. Perhaps put Mr Bluebird on the dragons shoulder....
I like it..appart from the ball that the dragon is holding, a bit to much like the white rose of yorkshire, and we all know whos ( old) emblem that is!! Got to be honest though, if we adopt this, then I,m of down the tattoists to get it done!!
I like it too, may have a tattoo of it because its definetely different, and I believe brings together the passion we have for our football club and country. I,ve got no probs with it having links to malaysia either..Ogmore Valley tottoist ( Kenny) here I come...LOL Davey rhondda.. you may be right about the badge being linked to the council emblem. Didn,t the malaysians say that they want to bring jobs and growth to the city and are working with the council to develop trade between us? Clever marketing in my opinion..beter stick with these guys they could be going places? LOL
