Was the intention to win or merely use it as an exercise to give some of the fringe players a run out ..
at 2-0 down and OK hindsight , we may have won this one had we started with almost the finishing line up and subbed the other way!
engval got a good runout and tommo and tammy a bit of a rest ....

    Lee says .....
"I am very proud. We competed really strongly with a young group against a side that got promoted and the last five or 10 minutes we had them completely on the back foot.
"If you take the set-pieces out of it - and they are very big and physically strong in their upper bodies - I thought we outplayed a really good side.
"Although I am disappointed not to have won the game and be in the next round, I think it showed the club in such a good light moving forward."

no comments on individuals .....disappointed not to have won the game and be in the next round ..... really then why start off weak?

When you are that close to the last eight in a major competition, against a premier league
side, you play your strongest side from the start. We lost tonight because we played a B
team in the first half. For me a wasted opportunity against a side there for the taking.

Probably Red Hub but we have bigger fish to fry, however a nice cup run would have helped the bank account.

Some good came out of last night, but 16000 fans wanted to see a cup upset, the club decided to play a weak side from the start.
£12.00 not the end of the world, but we had a very very good chance to progress.
For me total unrespect for a premiership team playing us.
Sorry Lee big cock up last night.

I have no doubt that the intention to win was there, but there is a reason why Hull are in a division higher than us. For me, a better placed team wont be beaten with a weakened side. Yes, an opportunity missed I feel, but it will soon be forgotten if we win on Saturday. The long term plan has to be like what Hull have achieved.

No problem with the team selection. It's a micky mouse cup only slightly bigger than the JPT. I wouldn't have been happy starting our first XI, Barnsley is the more important game. To be honest I wouldn't even have had Tammy on the bench and would have given him a complete break for a week. He's been on the go for a long time.

This was a real opportunity to progress in a cup competition v brittle Premiership opposition. Hull also made changes although not as many as Bristol City. Mr Johnson decided not to go all out to win. I did not rush around post work to see nine changes and a run out..

I don't understand why people are surprised by the changes, he's being doing it all competition. He even said as much in the days leading up to the game. In the last round away against a fellow championship side, which looked just as hard on paper as this home time, he played a young keeper making his debut as well playing the likes of Moore and Engvall.

I was surprised by nine changes versus a Premiership team. If matches are to be used as friendlies for strategic reasons and the objective is to be less than truly competitive reduce prices (if possible) further.

He made 9 changes in the last round as well and the prices were reduced, what's all this further nonsense? I suppose they could have let you in for free and it was a competitive game.

Yes it's only the poxy LC, but at this later stage there are some huge teams left in it, and it would have been nice to have progressed and have got a real plum tie at home in the Quarter Final.

I didn't go, but from the extended highlights I've seen today, it looked as though we created more than enough chances, especially in the 2nd half, to have buried Hull.

    Junior- before the game
' let's pack the gate, it will show how far we've come, beat Hull and with luck we might make the semi's, always one Championship side in semi's'

    Junior- after the game
' it was a good run out for some inexperienced young players'

    Forked tongue anyone ?

Hope people realize that 6 of the starting 11 were first team players, I'd hardly call it playing our reserves, Engvall was the only player out there that made his home debut

I did not mention the match being free but the price being reflective of intent . The side put out last night was ill prepared and understrength v Premiership opponents. City's zonal defending at set pieces was abject. Men v boys.

So even though the price was reduced you wanted it reduced further because it was obvious we would concede a couple of sloppy goals from corners. Right I'm with you <applause><ok>

Didn't go last night so can't comment. But from the way I see it all players last night are either from the first team rotation this year or sub placed so far this year.

Just wonder if people would be happy if it went to extra time with our best starting 11 at the detriment to the game on Saturday.

For some strange reason, looking forward to LJ and the team to go on a bad run just to read Redprint bile coming out. Or even better if we get promoted and read his comments then. I can only imagine Redprint asked him out on a date and got blown out. So much anger in there RP

It was obvious from the selection that Mr Johnson was not going al out for a win. The goals conceded were down to the changes unless you believe City do not pick up six footers making runs to the penalty spot and leave them unopposed each week.

In my lifetime I have been to one league cup semi final. Last night Mr Johnson threw a genuine opportunity to progress down the toilet without a ball kicked. That is his decision but if league cup games are to be used as friendlies price them accordingly in fairness to fans.
