We finished 3rd and qualified for the Champions League We haven't sold any other players We bought a German International in the prime of his career We bought Ligue 1 top scorer who's be gathering rave reviews What more could we have done to convince him to stay?? What did Wenger and Gazidas possibly tell him that would prompt such a reaction to mean he has no choice to leave now and ruin our chances of getting a higher fee Either there's more to the story or RVP was always leaving regardless of what we did which I think is unfair to the club. We've provided him a wage for 8 years when he's only consistently performed for 1.5 of them and he was made club captain last year Yes we haven't won anything but he played a part in that by being so injury prone...if he loves the club like he claims why leave now when we've invested to give us a chance next year
I think that we will find contact from the North West was made some time ago. To be honest it is a lame excuse and he would have been better advised to have come clean and said the financial offer was too much to resist. Last season was his first full year for us, we have stood behind him through his injury problems, and when he had to face rape allegations 2005. To be honest I feel that he has let the club down.
But the truth most probably is - he made this decision months ago. No way such a decision can be based on a meeting with Gazidis and Wenger. All these negotiations about Arsenal policy and strategy is just a smokescreen to engineer his move this summer. I really hope Arsenal take a stand this time and tell him, OK Robin, if we fail to meet your ambitions, you may go. Anywhere but our main rivals - ManCity, ManU, and Chelsea. Any other club in Europe. I would love to see his face when he heard it.
We have no power where he goes,we can make him see out his contract but after January he'll be able to sign a pre contract agreement with whoever he chooses. That is a sad fact of modern footballing life
Yup. No point for Arsenal to make an already small selling market even smaller. I mean, I cannot see Real Madrid or Barcelona wanting him. Is the German league prestigious enough for him? I doubt it and I don't think Munich, the only club that could afford his wage demands, would really want him as they already have Gomez and have just signed Manduzkic. Juventus is the only option outside of England really for him so they'd be offering deliberately low bids for him as they know they're the only team in for him if Arsenal ruled out City and Chelsea from buying. And I hope you're well mate!
