Now I know this may get slammed by many but I feel that last season has been over-rated by many. I'm not saying I didn't love it, and I was very proud to see Gillingham named as champions...but, surely the seasons under Pulis, Taylor and even Hessy (1st time) were much more of an accomplishment rather than winning the basement division of the league. When we were in the Championship we were punching well above our weight and hanging in there for a few seasons was surely more a source of pride rather than being the best of woeful underachievers and lucky conference clubs which I honestly see League 2 to be. I know I have been very negative about Allen recently but Promotions promotion, I don't think Bradford or Rotherham (Vale to a lesser extent) will really care they didn't win the league if they stay up and we go down. We will always have that honour of being champions but your only as good as your last match which doesn't bode well and if Notts County win tonight we go bottom. Worth thinking about at least.

Fantastic wind-up lukey! It's the second time in our entire history that we've won a league title. So yes, it was great. Did I enjoy it as much as the Wembley play-off wins? As a one-off, no. But in 40 years' time when we've yet to win another title, I can say I was around for the last one.

I agree with this,I thought we were brilliant up until November but after we stopped playing the good Football and had to really grind points out.The second half of the season wasn`t a joy to watch, but other Teams slipped up and we were the most consistant Team in the League and won it.It wasn`t as dramatic as Wembley, but we did something I never thought I would see us do which was become Champions.Port Vale battered Teams and scored a lot of goals, but no one remembers the Team finishing 2nd or 3rd.

Different things impress different people. There was no shortage of people last season saying that the home performances were dire, even in the games that we won, between November and March. On the other hand these voices were drowned out by the people who were only interested in results and you could not argue against the superb away results which enabled many to ignore the six home defeats.
So what is the reality in all of this? Frankly, MA got lucky with the form of his central defenders last year and they provided the impetus for the rest of the team. The problem was they were an accident waiting to happen because of age and their proven inadequacy at League 1 level. We saw it all before with Matt Lawrence who had an outstanding season but age caught up with him and he suddenly became a liability almost overnight.
Everyone lost touch with reality last year including MA and we failed to realise that many of the apparent touches of genius were sheer stupidity. However all is not lost...yet. A central defender and an attacking midfielder of quality could well turn things round. But does MA really want to stay and eat humble pie for some time? His track record suggests the opposite but we must wait and see. This season (whats left of it) is a much bigger challenge than last when he inherited a promotion destined squad.
