If we arent to make the play offs, and these last 10 games end up just being to look at the squad for next season, who do you reckon warnock will keep/let go Goalkeepers Lonergan- keep Rachubka- let go Taylor-let go (too old) Defenders Connolly- keep (i reckon hes impressed NW recently) Odea- sign for free (decent back up even if he doesnt start, seems to have improved now NW has the whole team organised) Lees- keep Robinson- sign for free (hes out of contarct i think- could get a good year or 2 out of him) Bromby, bruce, obrien, parker and kisnorbo could all go allowing NW to sign 2 quality centre halves Midfielders Brown- Keep (can we get 1 more season out of him, even if he only plays once a week?) Clayton- Keep (unless bates wants the money) Snodgrass- Keep (same as clayton) Sam- not getting much of a chance, Keep for back up? Nunez- Sell (doesnt fit in at leeds imo) Pugh- Keep (usefull versatility) Varynen- Let go Rogers- Keep (we still dont know what he can do!!) White- make him sign a contract at all costs! Forwards Becchio, Mccormack, Somma, Webber- Keep Paynter and forsell- get rid That would leave us with 16 + youngsters (Thompson, C.Taylor, Cairns, Turners). NW could then bring in 4 or 5 quality players (CB, RB, CM x 2, CF) and i reckon we'd have a great squad then.
If we keep McCormack, Clayton and Snoddy, we'd have a great chance next year! Definitely keep O'Dea if he plays like he has been these last few weeks!
Reckon we can afford to lose Clayton, and maybe White, even though I'd like to keep them. Snoddy and McCormack would be big losses though
I imagine that we will be getting a load of Warnock's former playing staff in. Colin will build a solid unit, but it would be nice to see some youngsters go out on loan, with the right one's given a chance. Andy Lonergan - Keep Paul Connolly - I'm not fussed Patrick Kisnorbo*- Move on Alex Bruce - Move on Andy O'Brien - I'm not fussed Robbie Rogers - I'm not fussed Mika Väyrynen - Move on Michael Brown - Move on Billy Paynter - Move on Luciano Becchio - Keep Lloyd Sam - Move on Adam Clayton - Keep Danny Pugh - Keep Mikael Forssell - I'm not fussed Ben Parker - Move on Ramón Núñez - I'm not fussed Tom Lees - Must Keep Robert Snodgrass*- Must Keep as captain Maik Taylor - Keep as 3rd choice GK Danny Webber - I'm not fussed Leigh Bromby - Move on Davide Somma - I'm not fussed Aidy White - Keep if possible Zac Thompson - Keep Alex Cairns - Send out on loan Charlie Taylor - Send out on loan Lewis Turner - Send out on loan Sanchez Payne - Send out on loan Jordan Snodin - Send out on loan Dominic Poleon - Send out on loan Billy Ions - Send out on loan Paul Robinson*- Keep Ross McCormack - Keep Darren O'Dea*- 50/50 (Depending on who else is available) - - - I would expect to see some of the following players joining us: Paddy McCarthy Shaun Derry* Shaun Barker (One Size) Fitz Hall Hogan Ephraim Johnnie Jackson Tommy Smith Darren Ambrose Emile Heskey
Steady on you are sounding like Ken, who was boasting in August in the Boro programme that keeping our best players was just as important as trying to bring in new signings. Gradel who i assume was one of our better players was sold a day before deadline day for "family reasons".
Yeah, hopefully we have a completely different summer transfer window to the last one to get us the fans much more positive about our chances from the off because that is half the battle. We don't want to hear empty promises again, we want to see action (players coming in) and then season tickets will be sold and people will want to attend the opening match at Elland Road to watch a good football team, not turn up to chant Bates out.
Personally I'd say a new CB, CM, RW, and CF is needed for next season with about 7 or 8 players leaving. I'd expect a few others coming in as well though but they are the areas where we need strong players for the first team rather than squad players
Last season we needed a LB, CB, 2CM'S+ST. We got O'Dea (loan signing) to cover LB and CB. We got Brown free transfer and Vayrynen in September free transfer. Upfront we got Keogh on loan as a reaction to Becchio's injury and paynter not being good enough. We also signed Forssell free transfer in September. Need to be much more professional and ambitious and get our signings in nice and early and bring some proper proven talent in that are hungry to succeed.
The 1 i was disappointed about last year was neil danns who went to leicester. free transfer who would have been ideal in CM for us had we offered more than a pack of pork sratchings a week
Brown played very well against Middlesborough in fairness and he has played quite well for a while now. He has little more than just dirty though, his passes are quite good along with his vision and he doesnt lose the ball often either
Don't get me wrong, I know he's a great player with the ball as well, I just like the fact he's not afraid to get stuck in. It makes a nice change!
Wow! Spot on, Logi. A man after my own heart. I'd like to add a couple of points, though: 1, Any players NW brings in must be FIRST CHOICE players. We don't want to sign squad players wholesale like Grayson did. 2. It's possible that NW can make something of the players that we'd like to see moved on. O'Dea being the case in point - who'd have thought such a turnaround was possible a couple of months ago? The thing about this is that he can only do this with fringe players when we have no hope of promotion (or huge injury problems). He's obviously going to play his strongest team whilst there's a chance, won't piss about with 'possibilities'.
Yea I understand Kiwi. Just saying. It is nice for someone to add some bite to the midfield Whitejock, do you not still get worried when the ball goes near O'Dear though?
