This was in the Sun yesterday. When asked did he have the full backing of the board, Warnock answered: "Definitley - 100%. There's been a lot of rubbish written about QPR not spending but I've been able to bring in players I really wanted. Our chairman, Gianni Paladini is a true football man with an incredible knowledge of the game and QPR fans need to understand this is the man who truly saved their Club when they were about to go under. And the same applies to Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore - when the Club was staring at the abyss, they produced the money out of their own pockets to pay the players. This Cub's board are heroes." We all know that's a load of bull-sh*t so the question is, where does staying for the money stop and managerial integrity start? I think it was QPAAGH who raised this point a few weeks ago and his thread was almost closed down by the Mod. But after that statement I think Warnock's motives seriously need to be questioned.
What is his option then? Tell the truth and be instantly sacked, probably breaching his contract in the process. They have already told him to shut up once. He still wants his job, he still wants this crack at the Premier League.
If was all about integrity Warnock would most have deffinately walked away by now and be honest would you blame him. He wants his chance as he deserves it and he obviously is toeing the line to try to achieve it which everyone knows he shouldn´t have to. What is your point do you want NW out after one match??
it's called being on message Swords, can't remember what Aaagh said but doubt it was the same cos I called it scurrilous. You look for it.
That's Warnock talking there Perv. Good memory there Northy. In fairness to you he was suggesting that COLIN was involved in asset-stripping. My point is simply this: How many top-class managers would put up with the carry-on of the board and not walk? I'm not saying that's the case or that Warnock should, I'm simply saying that that mouthful he's come out with surprised me when I read it. I thought he would duck and dive the question somewhat like most managers do. But his was a glowing endorsement of the regime even to the point of giving us fans a rasp on the knuckles.
Perhaps NW integrity lies with the TEAM and not the board. Perhaps he knows that if he walked the Mittals may not be as interested as they "appear" to be (Fingers crossed) NW
I would call it protecting his last crack at the premiership, if this take over is imminent then surely the last thing you would do is slate the owners whose friend is a about to take control of the club.
You can't read into one statement quoted in a crap newspaper, and go on to doubt the very integrity of our manager. Come on guys i know we're all upset after yesterday, but this is silly and unconstructive. This isn't a personal dig at you swords, but surely we all need to be 100% behind the manager, because it's clear from this summer that the board aren't. Maybe he's been misquoted, maybe the quote doesn't convey his tone(sarcasm?), maybe he's been told to say this, maybe he's purpsefully being complimentary following his public bollocking in that club statement, maybe he knows they won't be around for much longer so his statement is more of an overview of what they've achieved whilst being here. I don't think it'd be wise to slate his employers following a 4-0 loss?
Given that there are some pretty strong rumours that a change of ownership is imminent, this sounds to me like the kind of thing you say about someone who's about to depart - leave out all the bad stuff now a fresh start is in sight, and instead give credit for the good. NW's saying that history will show that without the Paladini-Briatore-Ecclestone influences, the club would not be going forward as it is. And frankly, so long as the Goons (all 3 of them) take their gold watches, jump on their bikes and peddle off into the sunset, I'm quite content for that to be said - and move on...
Integrity is a difficult virtue to maintain when all around you are scumbags. Warnock's come out of a quickfire highly successful campaign and gone straight into that austere, cut-throat summer we've just had. Despite the news of no investment, gagging order and demotion from manager with power over transfers to coach without, Warnock's had to keep his and the squad's peckers up with loads of over-optimistic bullcrap. He's also had to listen to Paladini and Briatore bollocks every day (we're lucky, we only get the odd meaningless statement). All that can reduce a man and with the word 'heroes' jumping off the screen at me, it seems it may well have in this case.
Oh for God's sake, have a longer memory than 24 hours would ye Grifter? I've been saying the same stuff all summer! Some of us don't get carried away with one result
Let's just look forward to what Warnock has to say after the take over has happened. Now that should be juicy.
Swords isn't anti-Warnock Griff BUT it's true, he has been saying that Warnock should've walked away with all the crap he been getting from the Goon show.
No, but I questioned his integrity in QPAAAGH's controversial post a while back. And when you say we're all on a downer after yesterday's game, you imply that some of us didn't see it coming. Ok, none of us thought we'd get a hiding (I thought we might nick a draw) but I've been hammered all summer along with one or two others for telling it how it is and now that its unfolding, I'm being told I'm only reacting to the result! Its bloody irritating if I'm honest.
